What is you opinion on the "Best" single AA flashlight?

I don't have one, I want one. Price less than US$100.
I like a good low/moonlight mode. Twisty or clicky ok.

I really just want it to use up the energy in old AA's lying about so a battery Vampire would be good, but its not a must have.

Opinions?
Thanks in advance.

I am not sure if brightness is important to you since you did not specify, but if you are going to run the light as a battery vampire I do hope you are aware that you will not be getting the optimal brightness since the batteries are almost depleted. Just to be on the safe side, you might want to consider single cell lights since you will be running used batteries in it. I think Quark or the Mini series from FourSevens make very good battery vampire. Of course there are other nice AA lights out there too, but for efficiency and for taking on the roll of a battery vampire, FourSevens Quark are hard to beat.

Check out the Thrunite T10, the L3 Illumination L10, and Fenix LD15

I'm working on a collection in the AA/14500/efficient/sub-lumen class clicky and the Quark's are my favorite. There may be one, or another, with a *little* better: tint, output, build quality, size, UI, warranty, CS, efficiency, etc. but IMHO, nothing covers as many bases as well as the Quark does. It can do pretty much anything the other can, perhaps not always with the same finesse, but there are so many things the Quark can do that the others cannot. Be careful comparing spec sheets as well, I test with a light meter and stopwatch and find 47s to be accurate/conservative while some other manufacturers are.... inaccurate/exaggerating.

Yep, Quarks are hard to beat as a general purpose/cover all tasks EDC. They really are tools, built tough and purposeful. They're not pretty, they're not at the razors edge, but they work and do what they're meant to do.

Once you get a Quark, you'll know.

Other threads, VERY common question:

My in production favorites are McGizmo, Zebralight . I have had nothing, recently, but QC problems with 4sevens, but that can be said of each and everyone of my favorites too.

yeah, sorry about that. I sometimes like to update to cover the new releases.
thanks for the links, I will explore them all...
