Hey guys, check out this light! I bought it at a vintage show and dropped in a ROP High bulb and one of modocod's 6AA-2D battery holders. It throws like crazy too! What do y'all think of this "Leader of Light"?

I just found this in a google serach "Great collectible flashlight from Ray-O-Vac. Circa early 1950's this flashlight was officially called the Captain Ray-O-Vac Rocket Ship Light. Underneath the captain on the flashlight is the phrase Leader of Light ."

And this sucker really throws! I just couldn't believe it how far the beam goes.

Rayovac always seems to have good reflectors.

I have this vintage chrome 2C sportsman, that I load with 2x17500's and an HPR51 bulb. Makes a slick little light, and the reflector on it is pristine with a good beam.

Rayovac is a favorite of mine actually. I have about ion my collection. Mostly modern ones.

They are a good sleeper light too. I've probably been able to mod them more then any stock modern off the shelf economy light.

If you score a modern Workhorse 2D, you can fit a Magled into it with NO mods, while even still being able to screw the bulb retainer on. And it'll trow jsut as good as the magled would in a Mag.

Not to mention, is an many other will fit a pair of 18650 cells.

Question is, what is the reflector assembly and what not made of?
I can imagine running a Rop-Hi is short bursts for demonstrations, but extended you might melt the poor thing.

The reflector doesn't seem like plastic at all and the lens is glass.

I can't recall but who, but someone on here ROP'd a old bullet style ROV a few years back. I remember thinking that's the coolest stealth light around. But this one may top it.

Go to the bay and search for vintage flashlights. There are some cool oldies that would make great sleepers.
