I always liked the older model Stingrays the best. I am talking about the 70's body style with the big front fenders. That to me was a classic design.

I've liked the looks of the all the pre-C5 Corvette's better than the C5. Never had any desire to own one as an adult but have driven many year models for fun at one time or another with most of the driving being less than 5 miles. I have a few hundred miles driving C-5's. I really didn't like the rear end on the C-5 but thought the nose, hood and roofline were very nice. Now, open the door, sit in one and drive. The C5 blows away ALL previous Vette's IMO. It's more comfortable, smoother, quieter, faster and handles better than all previous Vette's except for the ZR1. It beats the ZR1 in all respects except it gets edged out in acceleration. I could jump in a C5, drive 500-600 miles and not need a winch to lift my butt out of the seat like the C-4 and before. The car is effortless and sneaky fast. The other day I drove a 65 Chevelle SS with a 396, frame-off, show car. The car made you feel like you were flying down the road when you hammered the pedal but watching the speedo I know the C-5 Vette would run off and leave it. I expect even more from the C-6. I still don't have a desire to own one but IMO there is no better value in a high performance sports car, even if it were $20k more money than a C-5 and likely a C-6 Corvette will be the same.

The Ferrari 360 is drop dead gorgeous but I would rather drive an EV RAV4 than have to drive that car every day. (Darell you awake?) They aren't comfortable and you know it's going to leave you on the side of the road at some point. When it does and the closest Ferrari dealer is 300 miles away all you can do is punt. We all know the answer to the dilemma between getting a C-6 or a Ferrari 360, if you have the cheese be a good CPF'er and buy both. Get the C-6 to drive and the 360 to show

I was up at the American LeMans Series race at Mid-Ohio Sports Car course a week and a half ago, and there were at least five or six C6 'vettes that had been driven there, I believe all of them had Michigan Manufacturers plates on them. There were one or two at a GM display too. I must say, it took a few months for the styling of the C5 to grow on me when they first came out, but I fell in love instantly with the C6 when I finally saw several (both coupe and convertible) up close and personal. I got a nice big poster after filling out a questionaire at the GM display, and unfortunately that is as close as I'm going to get to a C6 for a few years. I might try and pick a used 2005-06 model in four or five years after the kids are a little older and in school.

Oh yeah, in additon to the factory Corvettes in the ALMS race, I got to see the new Lamborghini Murciélago race, as well as a Ferrari 360 Modena and a Saleen S7. Very, very nice. I also got a close up look at a Lotus Elise that someone had driven to the race. If I had to pick between the new Lotus and the new C6 'vette, it would be a tough choice. The 'vette would be way more comfortable for long trips than the Lotus though, that's for sure.
