Is the Surefire E2e body with the new VME head become the “Slimline C2”?

The introduction of the Malkoff Valiant Concepts VME Head now allows for the use of D26 LED dropin’s on the E series bodies. This head assembly will convert any SureFire E Series light to use a Malkoff Devices M series dropin lamp assembly (and other LED dropins).

I just received my first VME head from Gene Malkoff. I installed it and an M60 LED on my L4 body. The integration of the head to the body is smooth, unlike the to E to C adaptors previously available. The VME head makes the E2e only slightly larger than the stock E2e.

I couldn’t help but put my C2 with M60 alongside this new VME head on my L4 as a comparison. Same brightness, same runtime, both type III finish but the VME head on the E2e is a much smaller overall package.

Could this new setup replace my C2 as my favorite carry light? This VME head is a keeper for me. It’s my new Slimline C2! I just wish it was available in HAIII.

Isn't it going to be lacking the combat grip though? Like others, I'm curious to see pics!

Too darn ugly, I hope they get a proper HA treatment in the future...

They are using HA black. You want the natural HA? Would go nicer with most of SF's E series bodies. I have a nice black HA Aleph body that would fit nice with the black.

Anyone know if they'll ever sell a version sans all that text on the bezel? I think it looks really bad and would be a lot cleaner without it. Other than that, this makes me wish I never would have sold my E2D.

Here is the VME head compared the the TLS head...

Must admit, that pic makes me want to get the Malkoff bezel.

My main EDC is a black E2E body w/ E2D tailcap and TLS head. Works great, but always found it just a tad too long when clipped to my pocket. Even an ever so slightly shorter head would be an improvement.

But is weight a bigger issue with the Malkoff bezel and one of Gene's brass beauty drop-ins in it? I've got one of Gene's handmade M60 drop-ins in my Surefire 6P. I can definitely feel the weight difference compared to when I had just a P60 in there.

Yes the balance point certainly shifts forward and you do notice it being a bit heavier. Still for me the option to go with a thinner body that is more pocket friendly far outweighs that.

The 6P feels twice the size in my pocket compared to the VG2 body and VME head combo. Sure it's not really but it feels that way.
