It won't matter that Arc was first or has better quality with the AAA. CMG has two distinct advantages over Arc. First, CMG has a better distribution network. Second, CMG has a larger product line. Purchasing agents like to buy full product lines, not one product.

Of course, I'm sure that Peter predicted the entrance of the AAA CMG LED light and has a counter-move ready.---Marc

i am *really* interested in hearing more about the 1w 60 lumen leds! remember, lumileds are closer to 20!

also, nichia was showing a 2w led. that should be interesting also.

Since I can't go to Orlando either, I'd also like to see some covert pictures (I heard that cameras are banned in the display area) of the show.

But these descriptions are nice too.

Mr. Ted Bear - thank you for the great descriptions!!!

Saaby - yes I'm one of those people that would ignore most of the gun displays and only go for the lights!

Rothrandir - I too would be all over that 1W 60lu LED like flies to a pile of sh**.

I'll believe the 60 lumen 1W LEDs when I see them. Not saying it isn't possible but in the meantime I wouldn't stop buying other lights waiting for it's release. More details would be nice but I bet it is still a few years in the future. I too am curious about the Nichia 2 watts. I wonder if they still keep the "Nichia" color which is totally different from the Luxeon color.

glite doesn't believe in R&D. Just in filing lawsuits against anyone else that does.

New Streamlights at the SHOT Show

Here are some photos and specs of the new
Streamlight tactical lights with Xenon and LS versions of each. I tried to post the photos here, but it didn't work from my site.

Streamlights

Right click where the pics should be, select properties and copy the url into the address space in your browser and it'll go to the site and show the picture just fine.

Love the look of the TL-3 LED! At only 4 hours of high brightness, and pumping out 85 lumens, it must be running at nearly full specification. But why haven't they made it with a "clicky" tail cap?!?

Thank you kz1000s1 !!
This all seems so "cloak and dagger". Is Streamlight planning on putting this stuff on THEIR website anytime soon?

They are obviously trying hard to compete with Surefire with these lights, so if the competition doesn't have a clickie, they won't either. I tried out all four versions of these lights and they are very nice. The TL-2 xenon I compared against my 6P with a P60, and in brightness and beam quality it was similar. 100 lumens is claimed, but it didn't look like 100 to me. Notice that the power is expressed in lumens now instead of their usual units, candlepower. Another indication of who the target is.

The TL-3 LED 5W was the most impressive to me. A great beam with nice white color (at least on this example). As on the 5W Surefires, no optics are used, just a textured reflector of normal appearance. I don't know if the finish is HA.

I'm looking forward to checking out these lights further when they become available. I was told the TL-3 5W will be out in April (of this year). Let's hope they aren't also copying Surefires delivery schedule. The rep claimed that they were not having any problem getting the LED's. Due to their size, maybe they are getting all good LS's they want and leaving everyone else with crap.

GREAT! All these new lights! Gotta have 'em all!

I'm just going to have my payroll check direct deposited to brightguy!

I can live off of top ramen noodles, and frozen peas and carrots for a while (Hey, I actually did that for a while after college!)

you'd think they would at least put in some white ones for display?
