Re: \"The Thor\" & Costco\'s

Yeah, I dont think that it is available online. I looked some time ago and came up with the same. I believe it is only available as a walk in. Shame, cause I dont think that there is a costco anywhere near NYC. atleast in subway distance.

Re: \"The Thor\" & Costco\'s

There's a Costco in Brooklyn - 39th St. exit off the BQE (headed toward Staten Island). Also one in Queens/near Queens border to Long Island, but I haven't been to that one.

Re: \"The Thor\" & Costco\'s

Deanster, a while back, someone had mentioned that they had seen them at the store on Aurora & 205th.

I have not been there. I am not a member.

Re: \"The Thor\" & Costco\'s

Thanks for the tip on Aurora Ave... I am not a member either but a buddy of mine is /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Re: \"The Thor\" & Costco\'s

Shipping one comes out to about $37 after taxes and shipping if you cant find one local maybe a fellow flashaholic would be able to get one and send it your way. $37 is still not bad at all since they go for almost $70 everywhere ive seen, if you're lucky you can get it for right onder $50 online after shipping. I found a CPF'er that agreed to pick one up for me, just sent him the paypal for it. Check out some of the other threads in here if you dont have any luck finding one at a costco in NYC.

Re: \"The Thor\" & Costco\'s

OK, I saw it at Costco today...kind of amazing to think that that thing's $25, while at the same Costco a GE Steelbeam fluorescent lantern is $15, a Mag 3D/Minimag combo is $20, and a Streamlight Propolymer 7LED is $20. Very different lights, but wow, $25 is a steal, especially when the wimpy in comparison 1.5 million candlepower Vector spotlight is also on sale for (now I forget, $20 or $25).
Didn't get it this time, but I will soon. What a beast - that thing's heavy!

Re: \"The Thor\" & Costco\'s

Can anyone post a photo? I do not know of a costco around me but i have seen recharagable spot lights at walmart in the auto sectionfairly cheap, plus my dad lets me use his sams club membership and they may have them.

Since you guys make them sound soo good, I may just buy one to have incase i need it or become a stock boy and need to see items on the shelves of an isle in any detail.

Re: \"The Thor\" & Costco\'s

I saw it Costco's today also, the thing is monstrous! For only $25, it is a good deal. But with such a huge size, I dont even have a place to keep it. The one they had on display apparently had a charge, i was able to see the spotlight on the ceiling of the warehouse (which is no small feat considering all the ambient light). I found a picture of it on Cabela's (the Costco one is black) hope this link works:

Re: \"The Thor\" & Costco\'s

Oooohhhh, that is different that what i see at walmart. Man, that is a big light, like those old 6 volt laterns. And a bit more too.

The ones i see at walmart look like a power tool, comes in a box about the size of a loaf of bread. I will try to read it more next time I visit.

Re: \"The Thor\" & Costco\'s

Thor was at Costco on Aurora in Seattle on Saturday the 23rd of October - they seem to come and go a bit, I imagine as shipments come in.

I don't have one, as I can't really see a use (not that that's stopped me in the past...)

Re: \"The Thor\" & Costco\'s

Bought a third THOR at my local Costco. They had dozens of them available. Couldn't pass it up at $25.00!

Amen /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif for $25 how could you not want that artificial sunlight? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif You could always spend $200 on an Aleph setup and not even be in the same universe as far as output. (granted i have 2 McLux lights and love them) But for $25 and 10MCP even if you only got 10 charges out of it, it would still be worth it.
