I was pointed at these by someone on CrownVic.net and they interest me. They are Eagle Eyes LED tail lights, sold by Sabersport.

I won't buy the chrome trimmed lights above, because I want the black trim for my car (probably order directly from Sabersport), but this eBay ad lets you scroll down and see the back side of the lamp.

Im not really hot about LED tail lights. In fact, Im a bit suspicious of how well theyll work when viewed from the side. But I really like the clear lens at the bottom; thats not a standard item. I want more backup lights. I know that Ford made Crown Victorias for a couple of years that had yellow turn signals at the bottom of the tail lights. Then they went back to all red, and just sort of abandoned that bottom reflector behind the lens. So there are two bulb tail lights and four bulb tail lights.

Looking at the clear lens, then at the back of the lamp, it appears to be intended to allow amber bulbs in four bulb applicationns, but it looks like you could put a couple of bulbs there, then wire to the backup light circuit. Im going to have to install relays to handle anticipated trailer lighting load (my big trailer has four backup lights), so Ill be able to handle extra backup light load.

Looking at the back side of the lamp, I'm even wondering if I can crowd the LED strips aside enough to also include the stock incandescent bulbs (3357 or 3457, or course). I want good tail lights. And I really, REALLY want a lot more light back there when I hit reverse at night.

Of course, since I bought a receiver hitch, and I'm wiring for the big trailer, I could get a high output light that will slip into the receiver and plug to the trailer connector, then just pull it when I use the trailer hitch...
