Today (Oct. 26, 2007) I went to the Thomas Distributing site and could not find Eneloops, Hybrids or any other LSD Rechargeable batteries offered for sale. I went to a .us site after clicking on the .com site.

Have I missed something? If they have been discontinued there, does anyone know why?

I think you have the wrong site. Try http://www.thomasdistributing.com and you should have no problems finding them.

You are correct. What is the difference between these two sites? They appear to represent the same company since the mailing addresses on both sites are the same.

I just checked the TD site, and they still have the Eneloops and all the other LSD batteries for sale. You might have been confused because TD moved all the LSD products into a separate section.

I've been pondering that question. "thomasdistributing.us" website and Domain registration lists the same address as thomasdistributing.com, but some of the domain information such as the contact email address are different. Possibilities seem to be:
  • thomasdistributing.us is a sister site of some sort
  • thomasdistributing.us is a spoof site, trying to rip people off
To be safe, I would avoid giving any personal information to the thomasdistributing.us site unless or until its authenticity is verified.

thomasdistributing.com and thomas-distributing.com are certainly the real thing.

I agree. There is something wrong with that ".us" site. In fact I have never seen any ".us" sites before at all. That is a very strange phenomenon.

Could those types of sites be just for use for non-Americans?

Re: Eneloops Discontinued by Thomas Distribution??

The .us domains are not uncommon, they are intended for use by United States based entities for use in both domestic and international applications.

I'm curious how you came to find the .us site, as it's not something that shows up as a top result when I search for Thomas Distributing on Google?

Re: Eneloops Discontinued by Thomas Distribution??

My Eneloops from Thomas Distributing arrived today so I know it works. Strange that other site.

.us connection?

I have the .com site as a shortcut on my desktop. I clicked on that site and ended up at the .us site. Maybe Thomas is now constructing that site for some reason.

It was very strange. I actually thought that was the proper site at first.

Re: Eneloops Discontinued by Thomas Distribution??

You know about the fake batteries, the fake aircraft parts, the fake Shuttle parts, the fake medicines, and the fake websites.

Suspicion these days is just flat out necessary. It's always worth phoning a number you get from Directory Assistance --- thereby making sure it's in the right area code and country and city where you expect the company to be.

Sure, some of these are just screwups. But don't give your credit card if you're not able to verify the site.

Once it's sorted out, would someone clarify in the Title line?

I couldn't change the title but did delete the link. I was suprised by the switch in sites and was suspicious. Naturally, we should NOT give any information out to any suspicious sites.

You can edit the title by clicking the "Go Advanced" button next to the Save button.

I got to find out for sure, got a Email into Thomas-distributing.com (Ticket BD3696) Let get it direct from them, I will post their reply if they don't do it here first.

Something's goofy. What about the dashed version of the domain?? When I go to:
http://www.thomas-distributing.com
I get the site I am used to, BUT most of the links on this page go to the "thomasdistributing.com" domain (no dash) and say, "oops - the page you requested was not found." And a few links go to thomas-distributing.com and seem to display full pages.

Hopefully just having problems consolidating their domain names and site construction.

it is becoming common for companies to buy several versions of their main domain. some reasons can be to:

1) put different content on the other domains;

2) forward the other domains to the main website (so no traffic is lost);

3) keep others from benefitting from the company's advertising;

4) avoid confusing customers (who expect to see the company's content, but get something else);

5) keep people from putting up unsavory sites on similar domains (for profit or spite);

6) put up a similar website, but in a second language.

since a standard domain can be had for $10 per year, locking up ten versions of it only costs $100 per year, and makes sense for many companies.

Here is the reply from Eugene at Thomas Distrubuting:

Steven
It is us as we have a number of different websites and this is one of them.

So the sites are legit
