Today I received a Thrunite Ti XP-E LED AAA Flashlight. It does not have the 3 lumen capability, but only the firefly and the max. I don't think I will find the firefly useful, but maybe I will in the dark.
However, I am amazed at the 60 lumens at high. It is about everything I will need when I go to church at night, and need to see to get to my car. I like it so well I have ordered two more for gifts.

In the past I have used the Arc and CNG AAA lights, and always felt I needed more brightness. This Thrunite AAA does what I was hoping for. The two additional ones I have just ordered do have the 3 lumens capability. It might be useful to get up in the night or find something on the night stand.

I am glad I visited here again as I had no idea what was available these days. I have a couple of fenix E01 coming, but may find them too dim for my use. At 10 lumens they will be brighter than my standard Arc.

I also have a quark mini123 on the way to replace my Surefire E1e. Now maybe when I get those I can stop this buying flashlights, and going out in the garage to check brightness.

Earlier today I wanted to check the head in one of my twistys, a 2 AA. I ended up putting in a blank and two CR 123 in it. I thought it might be an E2e head, but guess what happened when I tightened it???? Flash and black. As it turned out I have two more
e1e bulbs so I am OK ---but dumb. If I had checked the Surefire site I would have seen that the white bulb was for E2 and the black, which I had in the twistee, was for the E1e.

Welcome back, Jerry. Lights certainly have come a long way, though I've still got my Arc on the keychain. I'm also liking the ThruNite Ti. There are some good reviews and stuff in the Marketplace about the Ti if you haven't found them already.

Hi, Geoff.

Thanks, and I am trying not to get hooked again, or spend time in the dark garage comparing lights. WOW! One who does that must be weird.
:)

Can you post a shot of the 0.04 against anything else low you have? I'm trying to decide if to go for the 3-60 or 0.04-60...

Hi JerryM ,

If you're wanting something higher than 60 lum. you might look at the ThruNite T10 .

It still has the Firefli low , but also a 9 lum. medium , and then 115 lum. on High .

It uses "AA' batteries , rather than AAA . More runtime and not much bigger than "Ti" .

T10 Specifications:

- Cree XP-G LED (R5) with lifespan of 50,000 hours
-Three modes of output: firefly(0.09lumens 147hours)-> Low (9 lumens, 39hrs ) ->High (115 lumens, 1.5hrs) with mode-memory (Tested with Ni-mh battery with actual capacity 2500mAh)
-Stable current regulated circuit, stable brightness
-Uses one 1.5V AA battery (ni-mh, alkaline ).

You might find the T10 more versatile than the "Ti" you got .

I have the 3 lumen version but can't answer the runtime question. One thing I can add is that it must be regulated since when it starts to go (out) it goes pretty fast. It dims from 3 lumen to barely visible in 2 or 3 minutes and then goes off and then come back flashing. The flashing lasts at least 10 minutes or more. It took me that long before I could find some more batteries.

I'm assuming that high and low are regulated or maybe the NIMH curve is just pretty flat in and of itself?

As I recall my ITP A3 dropped off pretty fast as well. So maybe it's not regulated (given the price) but that's just the way single AAA lights work with NIMH?

In any event I love this light.

Hi Jerry! Congrats on the Ti Firefly - I own 10 or 11 of them  and consider the light to be an amazing value. I have one of the lights modded to "firefly only" (simple to do if you want - search the forum), and find that late at night with night adjusted vision, the .04 lumen is bright enough to do about anything I want. I haven't tried a 3 lumen version - surely they are awesome, too, but many users like to have something that gives enough light to move about at night without waking the house.

As for the E01, likewise. 10 lumen is amazing when used in a dark area.

Welcome back! You made some great choices....

The sellers show rutime specs of 3 lumens (160hrs), Max 60 lumens (65mins)
I admit I have doubts. It just seems to me, in my ignorance, that a AAA is not going to have such capacity. I welcome comments by those who have much more knowledge than I have.
gcbryan, what run times have you experienced?

I can’t post photos of the light outputs, but here is a thread that shows beam shots.

http://www.cpfmarketplace.com/mp/showthread.php?257734-Thrunite-TI-review-with-04-lumen-Firefly-mode!

I did check the firefly mode when I had my "night eyes", and it is adequate in the middle of the night to check the nightstand or walk to another room.
I have a couple of the 3/60 models on order, but not sure when they will get here. I still think that the 3/60 will be most useful. But since I have tried it, I am not sure. I do know that the Arc AAA, which I think is 5.5 lumens is more than I need in the middle of the night.

The 60 lumens is all that I need/want in this light. I am wondering why I would want a replacement for the E1e.

Regards,
Jerry

Posted from my phone.

You can find a shot of the Ti's low compared to the Zebralight SC51, Quark AA and Photon Freedom Micro near the bottom of my review of the Ti:

Just one other thing....can you turn off the "Posted from my phone." tag as this is quite......well just see this thread:
