I am planning to replace the emitter in my Ti PD. I opened up the head and took a peek. After removing the bezel, lens and reflector, its hard to see just how its assembled. It looks like the heatsink is thermal-epoxied in place - unclear to me if its threaded or not. Since new heatsinks and converters are not available, I don't want to break anything.

Can I just heat up the head a little and tap the 'module' out by knocking on it from the LED side? Is it threaded? What would be the best way to get it out for the purpose of replacing the LED without destroying the converter/collar/kilroy.

You have to remove the screw in the converter board, it holds the converter to the heatsink. Then you will need to de-solder the LED wires from the converter. After that the heatsink will drop out from the front end, and of course the converter will be free from the back end.

Just what Morelite said. Nothing is threaded in the head, beside the bezel ring.

I think this pic shows it rather clearly. It was the original McLux-T, but the Ti-PD works just the same way. The converter board and the heatsink are hold in place by the screw, that's all, but sweet.

The easyness you can swap the led and/or the converter board is THE most ingenious aspect of this light, beside the piston-drive and kilroy concept.

If you don't have any new heatsink available (I'm waiting to to get one or two from the shoppe too, when they are available) the emitter you have will be damaged in the removal process. That's a shame, as those emmitter are quite premium ones... If I were you, i would try to get a new heatsink, and keep this one with the epoxied led as a spare.

Tino_ale, thanks for the pics. I would definitely enjoy getting another heatsink, but since they don't currently exist I'm not going to hold my breath. I'm prepared to destroy the current emitter. Still trying to find one to replace it with, though. (see sig).
