Ti PD-S Discussion....

I ordered the mizer version! WO tint!!! Nice!!

I thought my PD-S Mizer was the ultimate EDC....but now that I'm gonna get the Ti version, this will be even sweeter!

WP

I'm pretty sure I read that Don set one aside for Kenster even before the sales thread opened.
I am really excited. I've always wanted a Ti PD :rock:now I have to find a way to pay for it.:awman:

This is the ultimate EDC IMHO. I am glad they sold out cuz I need to spend more money on flashlights like I need another hole in my head! ;)

RIDE

one was reserved for kenster...

got the ti pd s, miser too. there's a limit to how much light you can use close up. rather have more runtime instead of more light.

std ti pd put out plenty of light for me. double runtime was a better choice for me. your mileage may differ...

PSM,

I agree with you 100%.
I've always loved the Ti-PD. I made the mistake of selling my first one.:ohgeez:
I always regretted it!

I was lucky enough to pick one up recently. I was even luckier when Don
agreed to convert it into a Ti-PD-S by changing the reflector and emmiter.
I should have it by Tuesday:grin2:

I am complete once again !!!

PS- I'll take a special pic for you when it arrives PSM.
Ti-PD-S next to my Uniden scanner:grin2:

Between the standard and the miser, what is the difference in run times on a protected rechargeable?

So I just ordered one of the standard versions. Yeah! But not sure if I should have ordered the mizer version instead. I think that the mizer would be about as bright a normal Luxeon PD, but how much brighter is the Seoul at 525mA?
Are we looking at 100 Lumens or so?
Is it possible to have the light converted to a mizer at a later date?

Art Vandelay,

PoliceScannerMan did a runtime test on his PD-S mizer and got 2 hours on high on a RCR123. Check out his ultra hightech runtime graph in this thread  :

I read that Don got about 3 hours on high on a primary cell and I read somewhere else that someone got like 40+ hours on low.

Scottiver,
PoliceScannerMan did some outdoor beamshots showing the difference between mizer and non mizer PD-S's. :goodjob: PSM! :

My PD-S mizer on high was a hair brighter than my TYOJ PD.

This will be my first Ti light. Are there any particulars I need to know in terms of break-in, care of etc. PSM? WP? :candle:

Let me be the first to say that this thread really pi%^*@ me off!!! Look at all of you people sitting here bragging about your stupid titanium lights that you just ordered, this just makes me want to :barf:!!!:nana: On a serious note, congrats to everyone that was able to snag one of these gems!:twothumbs I can't believe that I missed this sales thread:awman:... And to think, while you all were ordering your preciouses, I was stuck in the yard planting stuff for the wifey(in the rain no less)... The only thing that'll make me feel better is pics, lots and lots of pics!!! When you guys get your lights don't be shy about showing them off! Okay, I'm done now, rant over... I'm man enough to admit that I'm going to go cry myself to sleep now. Damn wife and her yard work...:lolsign:

I ended up getting the mizer for obvious reasons. I asked PSM after I purchased for his opinion since I knew he ran both and he was all the way for the full throtle version being that it was Ti.

I am strugling with the notion that I could've gotten both, but all in all I feel I made the right decision. This thing will run forever!

does anyone know if ti PD is identical externally to ti PD-S?

if I understand correctly... only difference is drive currents and MR20-S reflector?

And the number of grooves in the head (eight instead of six).

There are some differences in the number of flutes on the head. The Ti-PD has 6 flutes....the Ti-PD-S appears to have 8 flutes.

Any other differences. Just curious since I had my Ti-PD modded into a Ti-PD-S.
Anyone know the original drive levels on the Ti-PD ?

Thanks!

so original ti PD has more aggressive flutes?

really like my original ti PD... may have to do a little modding. instead of switching to new EDC.

ti PD-S is en route, so will be finding out real soon.
