I was talking to the local Tigerlight rep. last night and he said that they were coming out with an led head for their light. He said it was extremely bright in the 500-600 lumen area. He said it would require a new total head for the older lights. Anyone else heard of this???

That would be super and I would also be all over that :paypal:. But maybe js has some information on this issue.....

When you say head do you mean just the lamp?

or

Do you actually mean a whole new head, including the lamp?

No he said head like the hole end. 600 lumens it would probably be multiple led/ He said he saw it out when they were filming the Tigerlight Infomercial. He carries one of the 400 lumen lights and he said it was alot brighter. I was trying to find out more but a drunk prevented further.

Nice light. Good to see a Sabre option available. Going to pick up a few Sabre keychain sprays to replace my Fox Labs units soon.

We will be introducing our new LED for the series 2 light. It will be in the 500lum plus range. If the product is successful we may make a retro fit for our customers with the series one light.

The series number is based on the first three numbers of serial numer (i.e. 00100000 or 002000000).

Any pics of the new LED for the series 2 light or of the series 2 lights?

no pictures yet. We have introduced three new lights. the series 2 series 3 and the T100. The series 2 is essentially the replacement for the original TL with the gold ring. We have made some improvements. Water resistance has been improved, grip has been improved, pepper spray end cap is indexable for adjusting to personal preference, some elements have been fine tuned to increase accuracy, a new impact dampener will improve impact resistance and help prevent the lamp from twisting when assembling, the safety cap is redesigned to allow for larger hands and can be disassembled and repaired more easily.

The Series 3 has all of the above and then we scalloped the head to reduce end weight and made the grip much more aggressive. This was done at request of our customers who are in special operations and SWAT.

The T100 is designed for consumer use. It is not water resistant, but does provide some nice LED options and pepper spray capability in a smaller package. It runs on a single CR123. The T100 provides several LEd options that provide for significant run time as well as significant brightness. We think it has several options that consumers will like. Some have pointed out that we are marketing to females primarily, While it is true that we are marketing it to the 18 to 25 year old female, my 22 year old son and my 20 year old daughter each carry one at college as they goes back and forth between classes and or work night and day.

Just as an added note: our web page is under construction and we think it will be much easier to use and much more up to date. The ordering and is going away from a package format to a menu format where customers can choose the options they like and they will receive guidance as to what options go together. Similar to how Dell does their "build your system" on their web page. Be patient with us here as we are behind schedule getting this on line.

I can't wait for a high out put LED lamp from TL. As soon as I see it for sell I will order it. No questions asked.

Now the wait,

Randy,

What sort of LED(s) are in the LED head for series 2/3 TL's? i.e., how many and what type of LED's are they and how hard are they being driven? What sort of electronics is being used? etc. etc.

If it is multi-LED, does each LED have it's own reflector? What can you tell us about the design? Can you toss us hungry-for-information-CPFers a few more crumbs?

Randy,
I think we all really want upgrades to the lights we have. Kick@$$ upgrades for lights that aren't even shipping yet is dandy. We are thirsting to get something that will drop into the TL's already in circulation. If it takes a little patience to make the new module fit in the existing lights.... Well, you know your audience here. I've actually been thinking about getting one of those Terralux TLE-300's and trying to fit it in the TL, it'd take some work to heatsink it to the head, but it looks like it might fit ;)

EDIT: I wonder if Malkoff might be interested in making a run of modules adapted to fit the TL head. Tri or quad emitters like the new mag drop-in of his would be nice.

I must say, that T100 is a different looking light:candle:. It reminds me of a streamlined SPY with a pistol grip.

TigerLight Pro, can a standard replacement battery pack be bought? I don't see them on your web site.

Update. I see I have a series 1 light. I guess I'll be limited on the latest improvements. :mecry:

I contracted an engineer on this since I frankly am near clueless when it comes to LED tech and just not that bright in general (lol). That said it is a 3/Cree set up. Using the premium power pack with a 7 volt forward voltage at about 1.8A. Our biggest challenge was heat sink and still making it modular so our current series 2 and series 3 customers can drop it in without any modification. Each LED will have its own optics. It is rated 600 lumen max and over 500 out the window. This is an engineers rating and I reserve the right to change that when we have it rated by an independent lab, but confidence is high with regard to performance.

We will be presenting it at the shot show this week, but I anticipate that we will be doing some tweaking over the next month. It will be shown at the shot show in a series 2, but it will first be available commercially in the series 3 except in cases where series 2 customers order it. We will be advising on pricing very soon.

I hope this is helpful.

P.S.
Also you should know that our T100 is utilizing a k-2 on a single cr123. It runs about 1.5 hours on a good cr123, not all are created equal, but a tier one cell will give good run time. We do not have an official lumen rating at this time, but it is engineer rated at around 100lm. It seems pretty bright to me. It is designed for consumer use and has several alternate LED settings that allow for extended run time. There have been some problems with getting these out so we are using caution to ensure that we can keep our promises. It does come with an extremely effective pepper spray brand that has proven to be very successful. in fact it is the same brand and formula used by the LA county Sheriff's deputies when they conducted a use of force study involving the TigerLight. The deputies reported that the spray worked on 96% of the suspects.

If the LEd project goes well we are likely going to provide an upgrade for the series 1. The series 2 was the best candidate do to design considerations.

Yes, I have just approved a reliable basic pack. As JS can attest we have been testing packs and trying to find a basic pack that is up to snuff. Once the site is all together we will have those available.

Hello Randy,
Will the LED lamp replacement for the TL 2&3 series be out by April?

Edit: :ohgeez: Sorry I see that you already posted it.

Thanks for your answers, Randy! The 3 Cree TL LED head sounds great. Looking forward to seeing one for myself!
