Titanium MD2

I was daydreaming today at work and imagined a Titanium Malkoff MD2. :ooo:

I know it will probably never happen, but that would be a tank right there. :hitit:

The M61 runs pretty cool, I think the Ti MD2 would be OK with it.

I would like mine tapped on the tail with a McGizmo (PD) style clip, since they have teamed up already. :)

Would anyone else be in for one? :devil:

That is a really cool idea, but I would settle for just a Ti VME head and a M31!

I'd definitely be in for one Ti MD2, especially if it was tapped to fit the clip . . . I might even just use that black shroud since I like the tailstanding.

Seriously though, that would be pretty nice. Machining should be fairly straight forward which should help to keep costs in check.

My vote would be to bead-blast the whole thing to keep it nice and grippy.

Imagine. Haiku XP-G for when you want to travel light, and the Ti-MD2 otherwise. That would be a killer duo.

hmm...

that got me thinking of the price involved with creating one of those.

The alu needed to create a md2 (6061 T6) costs.. roughly 2.50$. (I'm guessing 6" are needed)

material cost + shop time (the most expensive component) + machine shop profit + dealer profit = ~50$

in TI 6Al-4V .. that would be.. 90$ for the materials...
Ti is harder to machine than alu, of course, and! the knurling is cut, not rolled.. making it much much more expensive..

I think the price might be, say, 500-800$..
