Hey guys, I've been looking around at titanium sporks recently. So far, I've got 3 different types of sporks that I'm looking at and I don't know which of the 3 to choose. The most popular of them is the Snowpeak spork. However, I would like something that says "titanium" on it.

Any of you guys have any experience with titanium sporks??

REI has a cool folding spork. The end is similar to the Snowpeak one, but the handle is a titanium wire frame. It locks in place with a slide lock and folds in half to reduce length. I've got one and it works well.

I have a Snowpeak and it's fine. I keep it at work with a steel Knork. The only advantage for Ti is weight.

I have a snowpeak and it is useless as a fork because the tines are too short. It is useless as a spoon because the fork tines are deep enough that any liquid in the spoon falls through the cracks. In short it is useless. Countycomm has a lexan double ended spork that is about 1/5th the ti price and is a lot more usable. Personally I prefer the full size lexan fork/spoon/knife sets that cost about $5 and weigh a couple ounces total. They are a lot nicer to use and the weight/space penalty is minimal.

Edit: here's my old snowpeak review: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?t=69204

Looks like my initial impression wasn't so unfavorable, but really the spork is just silly. Ti's nicest characteristic is that it doesn't conduct heat well, so it feels and tastes sort of like a wooden or ceramic spoon.

I'll see if I can find it. I haven't used it in a while and am not sure where it is.

Here's the lexan one I mentioned: http://countycomm.com/spork.htm
Maybe I'll review it. Basically it's not so great either because you have to be careful with the serrated edge, but it's at least functional.

I like the ti separate fork and spoon pic linked at the top of this thread, and maybe I'll buy a set just for coolness.

I got the Brunton version with the clip from LightHound. Aside from the possibility of using the clip as a bottle opener, I'd have been happier with a clipless spork since I don't plan on clipping the spork anywhere (besides, the holes in a clipless spork would work similarly with a split ring and little stainless clip). I got it to use in my murse when traveling as I've always been a fan of spork functionality.

I've got a couple of the Snowpeak ti sporks. They work fine for what they are, a compromise between a spoon and a fork. Of course they don't handle liquids as well as a spoon and don't stab food as well as a fork, but I haven't had any problem eating a variety of foods with them, just requires a bit more care. I'll probably get the individual Snowpeak fork and spoon eventually though, mainly because I just like titanium stuff.

I do have the CountyComm plastic double ended fork/spoon, and those work well too, except they are also a compromise and don't work well in all situations, for example when hiking or camping and my hands are dirty, I don't feel terribly comfortable putting the end I had just handled in my mouth.

Just hold it by the middle.

I'd like to order snow peak's ti fork/spoon combo set. what's the best place?
had a spork, didn't really work well. much prefer a real fork or spoon.

This is a funny thread, because about a year ago, a friend of mine went on a goofy ti binge and after buying a ti spork, he carried it around everywhere and ate with no other utensil but the spork for about two weeks. Even I thought he was a bit crazy. At any rate, he got it at REI and it looked alot like the snowpeak one, though I can't say it was the same brand for sure. It seemed like it worked reasonably well, but as pointed out, you lose some of the functionality of both the spoon and the fork when you combine them.
