I have a few Tk11 lights, which are now of course eclipsed by newer offerings, but I still like them. Is there an upgrade path?

Time to dive into some modding.

I have a TK12 that I love but it's early XPG really bothered me with it cyan-blue like tint. I took the plunge and decided to upgrade the emitter. I disassembled the head and reflowed a 5000k XP-G2 emitter and couldn't be more happy with the light. The tint and the little bit of extra throw gained from the XP-G2 were awesome.

These larger lights like the TK11 are usually a bit easier to mod than the smaller ones in my experience. I liked this mod so much that I gave my LD-20 the same XP-G2 5000k emitter and was very pleased with the results as well. But it was a bit more difficult for me.

If you're not up to taking it apart and doing some soldering, I'm sure there are a few people on the board that would do it for a reasonable price. (not me though, I am but an amateur and would probably destroy something)

As much as I would like higher output, i'd turn a good flashlight into a paper weight if i tried that. But, you raise an interesting idea. Maybe it's time to find a modder. Thanks for the info.

I got one of my TK12 modded to an XP-G2 by user Vin. I can only recommend his services: He did an excellent job and the day I mailed him to let them know I had shipped my light two days earlier he beat me saying it was ready and he'd mail it back to me the following morning!
