hey,

Just got my tk40 in the mail from DX, for an amazing price of 120.00, anyway

have any of you notice extreme tightness on the battery inserts? mine have gotten better after doing it a couple times, but it actually has dented the battery (-) side a tad. i don't care a ton ,these battery's are dedicated for the light. they are brand new eneloop's

other then that LOVE it. I have a e01, a l2d, then finally the tk40. pretty much small, med, large.

Build quality is beatiful and makes my l2d, which i love, look dim lol.

beatiful beam, beatiful color. and shockingly. I LOVE THE UI,

yes i had to yell, lol i was bit a concerned about the strobe inter connect, but you know what you never have to touch strobe, and the memory feature is great, i will unscrew the head when not using.

honestly i wish the l2d had this UI i can get through the modes a ton faster.

I can post beam shots if people care between the 3, but its been done a lot so i doubht we need more.

any questions ask

My Tk40 battery contacts were a tad tight, but nothing that could "push in" the battery at all. I'm guessing over time it'll get better.

Glad you like your new light.

guess pictures are better then words

are your holders looking like this?

Whoah! that's pretty... I'll have to check mine when I get home. I am using Duraloops. How are the +ve end? is it seated okay? I notice that sometimes the screw in th +ve end gets in the way of inserting batteries.

yea, they are fine i know what you mean about the screws.

mine are getting better, im thinking of getting a set of needle nose and squashing the **** a bit on the + side of things

Yes, it does have very tight engineering tolerances, but what a thing of beauty that battery carrier is!

This is probably the best light I have. We have difficulty getting eneloops in this country, I use 8AA's from Lidl (Tronic 2500 mAh) in mine in a charger that can condition batteries with no problems. Are eneloops the same as the HYBRID batteries we get over here? They are rechargeable but come ready to go out of the packet without charging?

Can you feel using your finger on the -ve contacts of the carrier. Do you feel anything raised? or is it flush? Do you have other eneloops that you are not using in your TK40?

My batteries are dented too!!

The battery housing is fricken tight.....but the light works and I think its getting looser.

Other than that I love the light and am verry happy.....with the exception of having to unscrew th tailcap when it's not in use.:duh2:

why are you doing the tail? instructions say head, although unscrewing the head its almost off at the point where it lockouts, guess i will try the tail

the negative side is perfect, its simple the **** on the + side are too far out, i got a needle nose on them and its a bit better.

yes its made beatiful, there isn't a single thing i don't like. the memory feature is well, well worth the unscrew head part.

good to see i am not the only one who dented, the issue is not with enloops, i tried about 5 different brands identical issue

Sorry you have to mod your light. My Duraloops dont have the dent. I also checked my Duracell 2650 which I was using before and they dont have any dents also. Maybe others can chime in whether it's happening to theirs also.

My TK40 runs eneloops and after checking mine, I can't find any sign of any denting at all. By the look of your photos, it is the eneloop positive terminal that is denting the negative terminal of the battery above it. By design, the battery carriers' terminals would not cause this denting at the centre of the battery negative terminal (the new design battery carrier).

James.....

Yes, same observation from the positive terminal denting the negative terminal of the battery above it. I'm using Imedions and noticed a very slight dent.

I doubt it was caused by the springs. I noticed it happened when I used the battery above and pushed the battery below to slide into the carrier. The little force might have caused the dents.

I think this can be avoided by using your thumb to pull down the battery below first and drop in the battery above. Hope it make sense.

I don't have any issues with my battery holder and it look the exact same as pictured here. I first loaded it with panasonic alkalines and now use Rayovac hybrid rechargeables 2700mA NiMh and everything is just fine.

too bad its two strings in parallel, or else it may be plausible to suggest leaving the batteries in there and just charge them in series through the charger:candle:
