I have a question.
I received Kai's double D 8.4v li-on battery today and want to try the TLE-100 MaxCharger 3 Mag Rechargeable Flashlight LED module with it in a M*G 2D. Would the standard switch and tailcap coil provide enough resistance to make this work?

I think the better question to ask is can it handle ~8.4V... my gut tells me more than likely the answer is yes...

If the thing was designed for a magcharger, then they would have taken into consideration 5 NiCD cells fresh off a charger in series, which could temporarily be as high as ~8V anyways... My gut tells me it will work fine... UNLESS it uses something simple like a resistor or simple direct drive setup, in which case that higher initial loaded voltage from the Li-Ion pack could fry that sucker....

I would be tempted to contact the manufacture and just ask what voltage range the module is designed for. If it is basically a direct drive system I would be weary of using that li-ion pack.
