TR-C2 actually uses constant current circuit!

Hiya guys,

I just received the TR-C2 5 mode flashlight from DX and very happy to share that the lower modes on this light are NOT done via PWM. All levels are constant current controlled :)

Furthermore, it's sequence goes from low>medium>high instead of medium>low>high. I hope this is an indication of how newer valued priced lights will be made. Very nice indeed.

I've been considering this light since it came out, sounds like it may be a decent one. There is both a 4-mode and 5-mode version on KaiDomain, I wonder if they are the same circuit, one minus the SOS, or if they are a different circuit altogether. I hope you get around to reviewing this light as well eventually, I'm very interested in the efficiency and output at each level.

I'll do reviews soon, just a little busy with school n part time job.
But it'll probably be in a couple of weeks though, cos my sample seems to have a flickering problem on Low and Medium levels :(
Gotta contact DX about that...

Btw, i just noticed a slight "kink" if you will, regarding the "memory" feature.
After turning the light off, the next time you turn it on it will always go onto the next mode.

For example, High > Off > Strobe.

FYI, i think these are in fact different from the ones on KD. Their sequence of modes are different, the price suggests that it's probably the same module kai uses for the $15 5-mode crees. Which isn't a bad thing though, those $15 5 mode modules are pretty good performers actually, but using PWM for lower levels.

interested in your review,
placed a DX order for this light on the 19th, didn't ship until the 24th.

How does the TR-C2 switch feel in quality/action ect..?
Now I seem to gauge a light by the quality of its switch, as long as everything else is up to par.

Thanks

Hi.

Indeed an interesting flashlight. Quite tempted to order one.

Could do without the strobe, though some would like an sos version.

Now i'm torn between a TR-C2 (the kai one), another UF C2 or the Kai surefire U2 2 mode clone.

The tr-c2 has an advantage as it has a smaller head than the uf C2 or (kai) SF U2. The TR-c2 also seems to have a much nicer side spill. Better for us techies.

Curse this FL addiction!!

X2X3X2. I'm assuming that your claim of the TR-C2 constant current means that the circuit is similar to an LDO circuit?
