Hey Guys,

Does anyone know the proper trit size for the piston on a Ti-PD-S?

My current one is green and I would like to put an orange one in instead.

Also, any recommendation on removing the older one without damaging the green trit?

Thanks!

The 1.5mmx5mm trit vials from Bart will work in the PD piston. As for removing the trit vail, boiling water works great you just need to be patient.

I have an old pot that I was going to toss out becase the non-stick coating was peeling off, so now it's my trit removal pot. I fill it with water and let it boil for a bit. Then I wrap the tips of a pair of needle nose pliers with tape(so I don't mar up the piston) so that I can hold the piston in the boiling water for a minuted or two. Then I very carefully use a tooth pick or needle to start picking at the Norland 61 until I can pop the trit vial out of the slot. Now this may take a few tries, meaning repeated dunks into the boiling water, so be patient. I've done this successfully with several PD's and managed not to break any of the trit vials. By the way, the boiling water tip was from Don.

Some words of caution, the piston will get very hot ,so use an oven mit or towel to handle it. Also, let me say again, the trit vials are very delicate, so be careful not to pick or pry at them too hard. Again, be patient, this isn't a race, if it takes a bit of time so be it. The end result will be more than worth it...:)

Thanks TX! Now I just gotta find an orange trit...lol
