Tritium spheres

What is a tritium sphere and what do you use one for?
Its one unit of tritium. You use it for tritaneous purposes. The plural is tritiii.

Kidding… they are little glass glowing vials. You glue them to things you want to glow for several years straight. Uses include firearm night sights and watch faces, but they're more commonly using rod/pill shaped vials. The spheres are like hen's teeth.

I put an 18mm sphere in this skull.

The normal tritium vials are used i.e. in clocks. I carry a Luminox clock with tritium. This vials are very small. I do not know if there are use cases for large vials for military purpose? My guess is that there is no real high demand for larger tritium vials or spheres.

The larger spheres contain a higher amount of tritium gas, and at least in Europe I think that is the problem. There are somehow limitations in activity or amount of radioactive substances.

I wish I'd gotten a tritium sphere back in the day, I haven't seen one for sale in what feels like forever.

Got this one from B@rt maybe 15 years ago 18mm and still glowing strong. Super glued to Maglite reflector. UCL lens. Tail threads cut off (2 alkalines exploded in a 6D) epoxied in the head so tailcap threads in. Called it the Zero D Maglite

trigalight sells spheres. I'm not privy to any pricing. They're out of Switzerland and do have sales in the US and Europe. I think their standard sized sphere is 15mm. But best to contact them.

Looking at their website, thinking they will not sell one sphere to a consumer. Looking at their website media section, photos show some interesting shapes. Kind of a flattened sphere would be nice to have.

You're probably right on that assumption. If anyone was interested it's easy enough to send an email. Maybe they have a dealer in the US willing to sell bits and bobs?

Trigalight does have agents in some countries, but indicate they sell directly to Western Europe and USA. This is found under their contact section of the website.

I mean, someone could find out what their minimum order size is for their largest sphere… or that flattened sphere in green?
