Tritium watches, some are better then others, right?

I'm seriously considering the purchase of a tritium watch and am doing my research. I know the Luminoxes are good and I think the Tracers are as well but any to avoid? Some are pretty light handed on the tritium application, aren't they?

Tritium vials have been invented by MB Microtec in Switzerland and they are still suppliers of the best quality vials. Traser watches are made directly by them, which of course does not mean that others are not good but certainly Traser have the latest technology, etc.

I have just one tritium watch and it is a Traser:

I am very happy with it but I have to say it is almost too luminous.

any brand with mb microtec tubes should be fine, just avoid to buy brands with other vials than that, they are mostly crap.

I have MB Microtec & Simth & Wesson tritium watches. The MB Microtec is twice as bright as the Smith & Wesson. I'd stay away from Smith & Wesson watches. Even though kine is titanium it's just a name brand, a name brand that is not known for making watches. I heard that Smith & Wesson uses second hand tritiums & I bielieve it.

For tritium watches, MB Microtec/Traser & Marathon are the only ones worth buying. For some reason I don't like Luminox watches even though they are made my MB Microtec too.

Ball watches use Swiss made mb microtec tritium vials and ETA movements. You should be happy with your new purchase. :)

For the amount of technology and quality that goes into a BAll watch, it is an incredible value! I love this watch. I was on the fence about getting a Jaeger Le Coultre, a much more expensive watch with more complications but the major downside was poor legibility both in day (silver hands on white dial) and night (not even GITD). Imagine that - an expensive watch on which you cannot easily read the time!

I am thinking the Luminix 1584. Looks fairly decent, plus looks like on the smallish side as I don't have a big wrist. Plus affordable at about $200. My only gripe, non sapphire crystal but you don't usually see that on a $200 watch. I hate buying a watch sight unseen though. Anybody know of chain USA retailers that carry the Luminox brand? I recall the old Service Merchandise stores used to but they went belly up quite a few years ago now. I don't recall seeing them anyplace else, Macy's Kohls, etc.

See if you can find a Lumi 1550 (they've been discontinued). It's 3/4 size version of the full sized Dress Field (#1572 (?)) Doesn't have rotating bezel so less bulk, sharp edges, etc. Would be perfect for smaller wrist.

Ball Watches look great and are very expensive. Not a real comparison to Luminox, of course.
