While trying to replace an old t12 4 foot flourescent fixture with a new t8 one I encountered a problem I don't understand. With a plugged in radio playing, I started to connect the wiring to the light. No problem with the black wire, but when I completed the circuit with the white wire, the radio started picking up a lot of static. I checked the connections in the ceiling box and found nothing out of sorts. There are other t12 fixtures on the same circuit and I wondered if perhaps there is some kind of electrical interference in play? My other thought was maybe there is damage to the wiring that runs through the attic, although I haven't investigated that scenario yet. Any thoughts?
