hi all im new to this place and i was just wondering what your thoughts are on the trustfire x6 as i might be getting one and some info would be great

Do some searching on the site- there are quite a few threads about this light, but in a nutshell- generally well made however very under powered for a SST-90, with only around 6 amps measured at the tail caps. An SST-90 really rocks at 10 amps and over. In other words it doesn't produce anywhere near the claimed lumens they advertise, and is putting out more like 1000-1200 emitter lumens, maybe a lttle more.

It's a nice host to upgrade, for the DIY crowd.

warmurf explained the rest very well.

Yep, have a BB and it's a whopper! Easily 2300 lumens off the face- light everywhere, beautiful. Not such a thrower though, so it depends what your after. For throw (but still budget) would you agree maybe an ebay HID? A better one anyway. Good throwers in LEDs are not usually cheap, and all budget version SST-90s suffer the same issue as the x6- underpowered.

If you're willing to go up to $230 a VARAPOWER2000 is an excellent high-powered SST-90, kicking out over 2000 lumens with excellent throw. Cheack out Lambdalights if your interested. I've got one and it's one of my best throwers, with a 32 point variable setting dial for the output. Only real issue is it's not waterproof.

If your not stuck on throw and are happy to have an all-rounder, the Fenix TK70 is brillant.
