Does anyone here have experience with the trustfire X9?

It looks like a good thermal design. LED mounted straight to pill, pill threaded straight into bezel/throat. Heatsink fins formed into throat area.

Even if it under drives the LED a slight amount thats not necessarily a bad thing in my book.

I doubt it. Those budget 18650 torches are usually direct driven with the same old 5 mode PWM circuit for the lower/blink modes. With the low Vf of the XML it is more likely to be overdriven (just like some Aurora SH40s that were measured at 4 and 5 amps).

This is not a P60 drop in where heat management will force them to limit the power.

that's a bit disappointing, but other than the driver, the host looks pretty solid.

might be worth buying for a driverswap to make a nice XM-L thrower? :)
