I picked up a new turbohead for a Surefire 9AN. dirt cheep, and since the bulb assemblies for 9N/9AN are interchangeable, I figured the heads were, too. WRONG!!!! So now I have a turbohead I can't use. Is there an adapter for it, or is this a direct swapout?

LOL, I do not doubt that your choice of thread title may be an accurate expression of your current feelings, but I think perhaps you ought to consider substituting a more helpful and descriptive one for the benefit of other members.

I "only" have the older 9N model, not the 9AN, but except for machining, there shouldnt be much of a difference ...
the LAs are totally different (turbohead one is longer and both have never been the same, btw.),
but both heads feature the same threading, both fit the same body.

You must have gotten one for another light, if the turbo does not fit on Your 9ANs body.

Re: CRAP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm confused, too.

Did you get a 9AN turbo head (KT3), but need a head for a different light? Or do you have a 9AN, and bought the wrong turbo head? The 9AN has the dual lamp module, and I assume it requires a turbo head that's unique from the rest of the Surefire turbo heads.

OK, the Prozac is kicking in......I have a 9N, the older version of the 9AN. Same battery, same dual bulb assembly. I have a KT3 turbohead, it has the dual bulbs in it. Take the head off the 9N, and the turbohead threaded base is a touch too small.

Do you have the adapter that should come with the KT3? You might take a look at the picture on SF's site.

The KT3 should fit the 9N/9AN using the N3 LA with no issues.
