Got a turquoise Arc today.Wow this thing seems to be 2 or 3 times as bright as my AAA-P I have read other posts that said this but seeing is beliveing. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

How can this be? The website shows:
turquoise: 4,800 mcd
white with black finish: 9,200 mcd
Arc AAA 20,ooo mcd

I have one and I've read that the eye is particularly sensitive to that color. Also, I can say the the above mcd ratings may not take into account that the turquoise has a much larger hotspot than the white AAA, and that perhaps a photo sensor is not as sensitive as the eye to its wavelength. Having said that, while it "appears" much brighter, some objects don't show up as well as under white light apparently because of altered color rendition, so I prefer my white AAA.

I got it from TAD Gear.It is strange that it is rated as dimmer but seems so much brighter.I like it. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

The turquoises has replaced my AAA LE on my keychain, It seems much brighter. Keep in mind that the turquoises is no longer being made. Get them while you can.

Is the turquoise you have seem like just a really bright green? I have ordered two over the last year. I ordered the second because I thought the party selling it either called it turquoise when it was green, or it was mismarked in the package. But both of them are bright green, almost forest green to my eye. I understand some of the very old turquois were more blue, is that right?

Scouter,
i had the same surprise with the "torquise", although much brigter, it's definatly green/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif! not torquise(i don't care what the label on the package says)
or it would have a lighter blue color with that green/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif!
/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gifWHAT'S UP WITH THAT ? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

I compared mine to a green Photon III and indeed the ARC AAA is more of a blue-green/turquoise. I own 2 and they are the same.

This color subject of the turquoise ARC AAA has been discussed before on the CPF...a search should render similar posts with the same content.

I have a TURQIOSE Arc AAA.

I ordered a couple from a sale in b/s/t. Pretty sure they were from DPR, from a auction he won.

One was green and one was turqoise.
The turqoise was a good bit brighter than the green one.
I LOVE mine, and even though I tend not to like colored leds for messing up true color retention, I find myself ussing this one alot.

I have a question, anyone with a turquiose aaa has a beam color that looks like the one on the Arc website?
Mine definately looks green and not like the one in the closeout page. However, if it says these are the same LED's used in traffic lights then it's green.

well that's just crazy talk /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/crazy.gif
has it not always been
RED
AMBER
TORQUISE

I'm not knocking the light. I love the older versions with the fine knurling and shiny reflector. It proved it's worth during the blackout and it was plenty bright for country use too. Maybe as the technology advances we wouldn't have this debate. Just wish mine had a little more blue. What made me buy the turquiose one was that it's the brightest of the spectrum. I bought it 2 yrs ago and it came in a plastic zip bag without a battery.
