I have some led rings that I had made, they come with 3 leds per one resistor on a board, they should have shown up with a 271 resistor per each three on the back, but they didn't and the resistor is way too low, 151 if I remember correctly. There are 21 resistors per ring, is there any way I can wire something in line when installing these in an AUTOMOTIVE application so they can run just fine and I run zero risk of a spike and the ring or segments blow out?

Second issues I have is even at 271 which we call out for, we seem to have random issues of 3 leds flickering inside the headlight halos, I would like to build some sort of buffer so this doesn't happen anymore, any thoughts?

I can provide more info if needed, this forum is new to me and so is asking for technical advice.

An LED driver setup would probably be what your looking for, as it would help with the voltage fluctuation i the automotive charging system. Have a look at National, or TI drivers for quick designs that would probably work.

From your description I hope that you are not trying to make your own exterior lighting...if you do, get it tested so it becomes legal.
