I don't know whether I am in the right forum with this one. I was browsing Quickbeams site, and ran into the UK C8, 2 bulbs (13 watts), 8 C cells, burn time 3-4 hours, in the $ 50 range.

It seems to have the throw of the average 2/123 Lithium, with about twice the Lumens. Less throw than a PT Surge, but about 50% more Lumens. Any experience with this one. ?

I have the Sunlight C4 version and I like it a lot. I don't think it could really be classified as a "Spotlight" because it uses a textured reflector that provides a good ammount of spill. But the main hot spot is reasonably tight and it has plenty of throw. The C8 version is the big brother of the one I have with twice the batteries and wattage.

If you are looking for a "Spotlight" in the strictest sense then these are probably not what you are looking for. Check out the Ikelite RC8 series, or the Pelican Nemo 8C. They have a much tighter focus with loads of throw and very little spill.

If you are looking for something with a good balance between throw and spill, then the UKE Sunlight series are very nice lights! The coolest feature of all is that they have a spare lamp on board that you can change, even under water!
