Hi,
I've got my hands on leaked UK400 (older version of D4).
Reflector is total mess, so that needs to be replaced, I thought of P7 or MCe.
It has/d rechargeable pack od 4xD Ni-Cd.

First I was thinking about 2s2p 18650.
I wanted to give this to my dad so I want that he only needs to plug this thing with wall charger. I don't want that he has to put batteries in and out and charging them 2 by 2. So 18650 scheme falls out.
I am thinking that the next best thing is to buy 4 NiCads solder them together and put them in old casing. But 4,5V is not much for led so I need your help with tech info.
thanks

It's almost impossible to get any decent performance out of high power leds inside a plastic case. There is just to much heat to deal with.:poof:

Gav is correct. But perhaps if you use a very large heat sink and under drive a MC-E or P7 it will work OK.

You could wire 4 18650's in parallel and modify a charger so it has output leads.
Or 4 NiMh/NiCd's in series.
Both will give you plenty of voltage for P7 or MC-E.

I know plastic case is a big limitation.
But I've successfully managed to mod flashlight similar to this (8D UK or something like that) and used it 5-6 times this summer for couple of hours.
(2s2p 18650, p7)
I thought doing the same/similar thing here but 18650 are to big for this light.
I wanted to know is it possible to have some kind of config. with 4xNiCad D size and mc-e/p7
