UK D8 good starter spot?

I have become interested in spot lights. How does UK D8 sound for a good starter spot. Lumens, lux, or CP ratings? Sounds like run time is ok, and could add 30 watt bulb, and 14 watt as two bulbs. Also add 9 amp NiMh's. How is beam, etc.
