I just received this in the mail today from DX...now this is a budget light:D It's $9.90 shipped!
I got it to experiment with focusable lights and it's the only light I have with an aspheric lens (plastic).
I was surprised by the throw. This is using a P4 and 3 AAA batteries. It's supposed to output around 100 lumen according to the ad copy. I have a P4 in a dive light that is more like 170 lumen using 3 AA's but this throws further and puts more light on target at intermediate range than the dive light.
It fits well in the hand as it's only about 4" long and 1" in diameter. It seems well made.
The beam is ugly however due to a ring of light well away from the spot or flood (near where the edge of the spill would be in a reflector light).
When used in it's throw capacity this isn't much of a problem but just using it for walking the dog it's rather ugly. The center of the beam (spot or flood) is fine however.
I'm going to keep it as is to do some experimenting with it but if used as a general purpose light an easy fix is to use Glad "Press and Seal" as diffusion film. This eliminates the ugly beam. It still has flood and some spot but much less throw and it's much less defined. For a general purpose light however that would be fine as well.
It has a high, low, and strobe mode switched by a half press of the clicky.
I like this light at lot more than I was expecting to.
