UltraFire light questions

I have a few ultrafire lights, two in particular i have a question about.
First is the UltraFire WF-502B is there a way to mod the circuit to only have hi-med-low? I can't take much more of the strobe and SOS options.
Second light is the UltraFire C8 CREE Q5 anyway to remove the Strobe and sos? Also do they make this same light that is much longer that can hold 2x 18650?

Just because it's an UF 502B doesn't mean the driver will be the same in another 502B. I don't even think UF makes 502's anymore. What you have is probably a clone with a fakey UF logo. You really will have to post a picture or the driver and hope someone here has experience with it.

The alternative is a simple driver upgrade for both that's assuming you have the tools to solder the 2 lead wires and the pill back onto the pill.

For the 502b, I'm assuming you have an XML LED. You can get a 8xAMC7135 driver (again, assuming you're in the US, I would order them from Illumination Supply or another US seller for about $7 a pop). They're cheaper if you order them from China/HK but it'll take you longer to get them. This driver has 4 selectable modes by bridging 2 contact points on the driver but goes L-M-H instead of H-M-L. It's running a little over 3amps so you'll probably see a difference in brightness unless the original on hight was direct drive.

As for the C8 Q5, I would use a 4xAMC7135 driver. Driver is the same as above except running at 1.5A. You can find a C8 extension if you google it. But then you will again need to switch a driver to take up to 8.4V if you want to use 2 x 18650s. The drivers I mentioned above only goes up to 6V.

I'm in California. Ah I changed what I wrote forgot to delete the maglite in the subject as I found a $40 led upgrade for my 2d maglite.

OK here's photos of the lights.
When I stack x2 battery's on the c8 output is crazy bright! But after I did that one of my 4000mAh batts died it won't charge nor light up my light. So I need to order new batts

Sorry if I wasn't clear. In order to take a look at the driver (under the spring where the positive contact point of the battery touches the pill) you really need to pop it out but this means you either have to de-solder it or pry it open if it's a press fit. This may not be an option for you if you can't solder it back yourself. In your pictures you show the back of the driver which actually doesn't tell much.

Again to re-iterate, my recommendation is to purchase a new driver to change the modes. On the other hand it's hard to justify a $4-7 driver for a $10 flashlight. If you like to start getting into modding torches by swaping LEDs, drivers, etc (slippery slope) the torches you have would be a good candidates.

I agree with you. The blinky modes drive me nuts too especially if there is no mode memory.

I would do it free of charge but I'm located in Canada. Shipping cost would be more than the value of your flashlights. Maybe someone in your area can do it for you if you don't want to do it yourself.

Very good, I thought that's what you wanted. No problem I have had the circuits apart just last night. Later I will desolder both and post pictures of the driver :):thumbup:

I recognize it. It's a very common widely used in those UF p60s and C8 XMLs. I think i even have a few of those in my parts bin. Kaidomain sells them. sku.S010105 I'm not sure if you can choose modes by soldering to different contact points as someone who have figured it out already. If you google it you'll see lots of ppl asking the same ques as you. Sorry dude. I remember looking for the same answers last year as they were selling them 5 for something...cheap. If you get stuck, PM me and I'll see if I have a 3 mode in my parts bin I can scrounge up for your 502b. Maybe a Nanijn 105c or KD V2 driver. As for your C8, I'm pretty sure I don't have anything suitable. Good luck.

Alright cool. Can you link me to a new driver and or w/ led i seen them at one point but didn't bookmark the site because i dont want to order from china (it takes too long).
