I just got one of these from Deal Extreme. Overall I am impressed. Good fit and finish. I couldn't wait to try it. I got my AW 18650 protected c modell out of the charger. Dropped them in and nothing. Ok i took a set of 17500 out of my tl-3
dropped them in and nothing.. I put them back into the tl-3 and they worked. In the midst of my despair about having to send the light back, I go an old pair of unprotected 2400 mah batteries. I dropped them in and heat. I looked down it was working. OMG it puts out a lot of light. It is considerable brighter than lights I have in the 400 plus lumens range. It is very close to my fivemega 3 cell stinger
mod though the stinger is brighter and has a lot better hotspot. I have not had a chance to go outside for some night testing on throw. I am shocked that aw's cells would not power the light. Does anybody know how many amps this bulb draws???

I own the ultrafire wf500, same light I'm presuming, my light draws around 2.7 amps according to my cheap meter on to of these cheap protected cells. It works perfectly, this is the brightest light I own, I love it.

If your handy with a soldering iron you can remove the bulb assembly, unsolder the springs + bulb and replace it with something brighter. I did this with a 773u bulb from kaidomain, had to refocus it though. No real difference in brightness unfortunately.

I plan on getting some brighter bulbs in the future like the wa1111 and soldering that in or rigging up a bi-pin holder. This light would be even better if you could buy another 18650 cell extender so that 3 cells could be used.

Lumens Factory have a bulb assembly available now for this light the HO-R5 but it's $20 and I could buy 4 bulb assembly's from dx for that price - you can buy the whole light for $25!

Anyway I rambling on here, its a great light and I'm having a heap of fun with mine! :twothumbs

The aw's black cells I thought were rated at 3 amps. They will not drive the bulb. I understand the bulb is not the same. This light has less spot than th 500 I have seen. Though I plan on getting a 500 and putting one of those 630 lumens bulbs in it for a through monster...Or maybe a 5761??? this is for a weapon light for my duty rifle.

wrong :sigh:

Ok, so what exaclty is the big difference between the WF-500 and the newer WF-600 Xenon?? I've read the 600 takes a Phillips bulb, while the 500 takes the more traditional style that LF has made the HO-5R to replace.

Are all the other parts interchangeable? It seems there isn't much info on the newer 600 Xenon. Here's a link: http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.9428

It appears everything is the same save for the bulb. Which one would lend itself to tinkering with in the future? Coming straight from HK with ~600 lumens is fine, but if that'll be your only bulb option in the future, it might be better to stay with the 500.

Anyone..........Bueller............?

The bulbs of the 500 and 600 are not interchangeable because the opening on the reflectors are different sizes. The screwbase for the 600 is about 1mm bigger than 500.

However, it appears that both lights uses the same size bezel and threading, thus it might be possible to interchange the whole lamp assembly rather than just the bulbs.
