Carrying a few knives, sometimes a job-specific tool, my carabiner with my keys hanging off my pant's belt loop, and often times a work radio in my back pocket my just-ordered Jetbeam Jet-II Pro's gotta find a place now. This got me wondering how many, if any, here carry a light unconventionally? Do you leg-carry, mounted on your hat's brim, upper-arm carry, etc., and why?

I carry my Fenix L1DCE and/or Nitecore D10 in a horizontal leather phone case.

Great thread!

I carry my EDC on a shoulder strap, which is my AmondoTech N30 HID searchlight. It's a little larger than a 6 volt floating lantern but throws out 3000+ lumens in such a nice searchlight beam I just can't stand to be without it. I almost always carry it everywhere, and don't mind at all having it hanging on a strap.

i got 2 wrist mounted LED dive lights, a headlamp (zebra) and 2x3D mags in belt holsters with 2 more ankle holsters with 1 x AA lights and 1 Fenix E01 in the left pocket on my housekeys and 1x CR123 Romisen RC-C3 in the right pocket on my office keys.

I walk around like that all day.

hahahaha, I wish i could do that, but seriously, its the Fenix and the Romisen, with a modded Hugsby B2 with a 7.4 volt 10w bulb and 2 x 3.7 volt RCR123s in the briefcase for pure flooding of warm light.

Metal clip style holsters from RipOffs can be hung from a pocket in a pair of jeans, definitely increases the carry options and gets things down out of the way.

Depending on where you are going and what kind of formality level is required, you could always look into a thigh rig to put some holsters on. I've been thinking about getting a few various rigs and a good vest with lots of pockets to use when I need to carry a ton of gear but don't want a backpack.

I EDC a magcharger with a FM 34mm ext tube, running a 5761. And carry a spare battery stick too.
The magcharger is carried on a mag beltloop, and the batt in a baton holder.

Does that count as odd?

Um, yes. :)

A2 on an AKJ Concealco belt holster. Unusual for people I deal with, anyway. Occasionally, I'll stick it in a pocket, clipped up near the top with the E1e-style short clip I switched to after destroying like three normal A2 clips. Both carry methods are so far bulletproof.

If you're worried about not enough capacity, I recommend either of these products from ThinkGeek:
Gadget Shoulder Holster
Gadget Hip Holster

My HDS pattern lights ride like so on my Maxpedition Lunada. When I sling the pack on, the light ends up over my shoulder facing forward. This allows me to use the light with both hands free

I wear 511 tactical shirts, so I can carry everything I need without too much trouble. My Leatherman & SAK are in holsters on my belt, keys with Microstream in my pants pocket and Jetbeam Jet-I, wallet, notepad/pen, 2 x 8GB USB flashdrives & cellphone all fit in the shirt pockets.

Inova X1-V2 or Gerber Tempo hangs around my neck on a Surefire neck lanyard. Great for lighting the ground around me feet on night hikes, preserving my vision.
