UV LED\'

Hey, does anybody know where I could buy a UV led? I am thinking of creating a uv flashlight. (I also have no ideas of what to use for a body (maybe range from a mag solitare to a plastic box. Any ideas?)

mag solitare would be a nice portable money/insepction light.

I'd say a properly modified UV led made into a SE mounted in a nice reflector would be good for inspecting large areas to look for stains/etc. A minimag AA or simalar light should be decent. A C or D size light would be over kill, unless you want to make a multi UV light with several LED's in a flood aray. That would be intresting. Possibly a 2D mag with 3C's inside a 1" PVC pipe and then a bunch of 5mm led's in the head...
A small radio shack project box that could fit 3AA or AAA battries, or less with a step up circuit would work just fine too. You could have like 4 in a row or something.

AB had some UV's for sale. Not sure if he still has any or not.

I used 5 of these to mod an Inova X5 for scorpion hunting. They emit enough visible violet for walking around in the dark and enough UV to light 'em up from about 8'. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif :

b@art, don't try this.....
I cut it open in a lathe! Had to burn out their epoxy with a torch, but was able to save their board for the mod. (resistor) Made a piece to press together the surviving parts. Reanodized the whole mess. Works great, but I may have gotten lucky!
