A little offtopic but i think still usefull for diving.... with some proper light :candle:

Do someone use that cameras? I like they are small , not complicated but still have PICTURE ! With camera( NAKED ) you get submersible housing to 40 m!

GoPro HD Hero :

or some more expensive :

Sorry for bringing up an old thread.. But I just got my ContourGPS and love it!
Here is a video (yep buddy got some scolding after that trick). This is in quite
murky waters, west cost of Sweden:

Now I just need to get started getting some more light.. :)

Hi Lucca,

I stumbled upon this thread looking for a video light solution for my GoPro HD. I use the system and it really is a neat little bag of tricks!

Its small enough that I can mount it at the end of a small monopod that enables me to take self-portraits:

All I need to do now is to make an equally small video lighting solution that mounts to the end of the monopod as well. I was thinking of triple XML connected via umbilical to a canister...

Nice work ! I see you both made lens mod (thanks for mako lens info ! ) ...I assume that rkt diver uses original house with doomed lens.

I wish have that dives like Dashrynn ..btw what music group is in video ?

@DocEd ..I think that advantage that camera is that is very mobile , not heavy and small and independant. I think that these advantages should be preserved too.
Maybe could be good to put some small canister behind camera made from handheld torch like : ( I'll do that hoply in close future .. but suggest for DIY )

1. buy small backup with right head like : GS35 LED Mini (maintitle on page is little confused )

http://www.fwt-schulz.com/lampen/index.php?a=569&lang=eng

GS35-LED-Mini-Beamer-750lm-25-Reflektor-kaltweiss.jpg

2. than I take ''replacement parts '' 2 caps like

http://www.fwt-schulz.com/lampen/index.php?a=518&lang=eng
GS35-Deckel-mit-Feder-O-Ring.jpg

One cap will go on front of battery holder which made small canister and other cap should go on back of backup head ( they fit together due to same size threads which are M30x1 ( I made Cu heatsinks for them) .

That short backup could hold triple AAA in series , normal bacup can hold inside triple C size battery

It is direct driven led over resistor (with P4) and direct with MC-E

Backup head is not OK because inside is Cree MC-E which made ''windows'' effect, but led could be easy replaced if set heatsink and led in freezer over night (inside thin plastic bag ) to broke arctic silver glue which holds led on its place. Than replace original led with some right led (XML, clouster for some triple kit on star PCB? )
like http://www.lux-rc.com/view.php?p=content/products/light_engines/3UP/XPGH51

TIR optics should be removed or not depends on desired beam ( front glass is mineral )

Next step is to wire with cable over some proper glands battery cap with lamphead cap.

I have tought to put those both (2pcs) battery pack behind camera and put lamphead on some small plastic holders in size of battery canister which could be hidden under camera and that extend them if needed from right and left side .

I think that could have small system with minimum money ( ok in euros is tahat alot of money cca 350€) but some cheap replacement from DE might work too.

I just focus on these backups because I have them and mod them. Sorry for big pics but can't resize them from direct link

------------------------------------------------------------------
Packhorse also made some small light from ultrafire bacup which shuld be much cheaper as that one but same construction .

I recently bought a Hero2 and thus far have been impressed.

No ability to set white balance is perhaps the most limiting feature.

Am loving the simplicity though.

I went for the Oculus r5 flat lens mod and a custom delrin housing from the captain for deep dive (past 50m).

Would it not be possible to set white balance via editing software?

You can do colour shifts/grading in post production, but it tends to degrade the image a fair bit as there is not enough data in the compressed image (not so if you're shooting in RAW, but the Gopro doesn't do that). Getting rid of that cyan cast from the video can be difficult to do nicely.
