I got a VB1 off BST recently, and only then found out that there was a difference between the Types of springs. So trying to use it has been very frustrating, becuase the switch is uber unreliable, and is just crappy, Is there ANY way i can fix it?

thanks

I've had pretty good luck with them once I got them "tuned". If mine ever go out I'm thinking about getting a small coil spring and working it under the leaf tabs and see if that helps. One thing I did is get rid of the weird visible grooved o-ring and replaced it with a tight fitting regular o-ring that allows the cap to mate with the body. Without the play introduced by the other o-ring it's much easier to adjust.

I fixed mine several years ago and haven't touched it since and it's been an EDC for a good part of that time.

sigh...look like i realy do need that new soldering iron...thanks for that darksky...ill look into getting one soon.

Lunatic, thank you! that o-ring was driving me nuts, never thought of just replaceing it...now it feels right..

wierd thing is, now it seems to work fine for awhile, then once in awhile, ill have to tap the tail section on something for it to work.

im wondering if i should just get an E1E body and be done with it.

An E1E body is much bigger. One other thing you might consider it sticking a nonconductive semi spongy piece under the leaves. Once you get the height where you want it the sponge will act to add extra support to the leaves. It could be anything from a piece of a corn pad to a thick rubberband piece with the denser material being better IMO.
