OIC what he's saying.. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohgeez.gif
He needs to go to the spotlights, hid forum lower down the list.
Many of these are rechargeable, handheld, cordless lights.
Look for Thor 10 million candlepower.
That should fit in nicely with what you want in your price range if it's not too heavy to carry.

Re: Want a strong flashlight.

The spotlights wont fit into a jeans or jacket pocket like he said he wanted. (They are blindingly bright though!)
For the price range he suggests, I think the surge is probably the best bet.

Re: Want a strong flashlight.

Okey, i think ill buy a PT Surge, just one thing remaining unclear to me.

If we say i chance the facts and say that any size will do, and change the max price to 200$ ... will a UK Light Cannon 100 be the best thing for me to buy, or will any other candlepower spotlight be brigther, or any fashlight at all in that price range?

Re: Want a strong flashlight.

Almost any spotlight will be brighter than the brightest flashlight (except maybe the Beast). They don't fit will in your clothes, however. For the best brightness in a small package at a reasonable price, I agree with the Streamlight TL-3 Xenon. The Pelican M6 is pretty bright too, but a little heavier. These are small, reasonably priced bright lights.

vvisoo, get your surge from http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=200912869&loc=17250&sp=1 It's only $19.97 no tax and free shipping....absolute best price you will find for it shipped on the web.

You don't need to spend big bucks on HID lights, if you want something really bright yet inexpensive just get a vector 1-3 million candlepower spotlight, they are $20-45 and sell at your local target and are just waaay too bright. My dual beam 3Mil CP vector even has a mini built in area light and a plugin for using it as a portable battery source it came from target for $44

This is the one i'm talking about:

If you can shop online to take advantage of cheap CR123A batteries, doing a 2C M*g with 3x123 and a 5 cell KPR112 bulb is SMOKING bright and not real big.

Two questions; since the lamp you mention is a 6V lamp and you will be feeding it 9V, it can't last long, can it?

How do you keep the batteries from rattling around in there?

Thanks

Mike

Re: Want a strong flashlight.

3/4" CPVC with some tape around the ends works for me.

Alternately 5/8" Heater Hose slit down one side works for others.

Bulb life can be dicey. If you want a little more reliabilty at the cost of a bit of brightness, use a M*g Whitestar 6 cell bulb. You might try a M*g Xenon Star 6 cell, but don't be too suprised it it smokes. If it doesn't, it'll be white and throw far.

You absolutely cannot do better than this easy mod. It costs nothing, essentially, and outthrows even the SL TL-3 Xenon, one of the farthest throwing stock lights. Go with the PVC (bring a battery to the hardware store...I think it's the 1/4 inch that just allows the battery to slide in). Cut it to size, wrap electrical tape around the ends (real thick) to keep it from rattling, and you're set. There are two other bulbs that will give you more output and will last much longer in this mod...probably the best is the Reflectlite GH24, but an Ikelite PcA bulb works great too. The GH24 is around $6.50, the Ikelite around $8, but they'll last. Do some searches for GH24 and you can find a lot of info.

Re: Want a strong flashlight.

Awesome. My first mod, isn't that cute /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Off to Lowes for me today. The rest of the stuff will be showing up in todays' UPS shipment. I love having Brightguy just a few miles away!

Re: Want a strong flashlight.

If you don't find a 2C at Lowe's, Home Depot has them regularly. Our Lowe's usually only has D cell mags.
