Somehow, I suspect there'd be a way to make a Minimag submersible, but I don't precisely know how. Any ideas?

just replace the o ring on the tail cap with a solid o ring. the tailcap seal is a 1 way valve thing but a solid o ring will probly seal better

the tail cap oring is a one way to let battery gasess vent out as far as I know, or to allow you to turn the head without air getting compressed. I think the seal is very good on the head part, that is why they had to do that on the tailcap. So yeah, make sure your orings are well lubed and tight, put a normal one on the tailcap as Reptilezs said, and you should be set!

careful of exploding torch if u put the batteries incorrectly after u put solid O-rings! /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon15.gif

Alright, I'll get an o-ring for the tailcap next time I'm at a hardware store, and give it a try. As long as I don't screw/unscrew anything when it's underwater, it shouldn't leak even if it's on, should it?

I'm on the list for a Lambda pill, and I'm feeling paranoid about something happening to it if I ever accidently drop it in water. 15-20ft max.

I've taken an older one (with the oring on tail) down to 120ft. As well many dives to shallower depths. Had no problems.

Wow! I felt proud when mine survived 2ft of water! Didn't know minimags had that much potential. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif

This might be a bit off topic, as it does not directly apply to a mini mag. I'm not sure what type of switch the mini mag uses, but on my 3D and 2D mag's i used a suringe of silicone to seal the rubber switch cover. To do this i simply removed the rubber switch cover and applied a nice amount of silicone around the switch and then put the rubber switch cover back in place. This does an incredible job of sealing the switch, and i think this is ussually the weak point whenever water is concerned. Well lubed O-rings should do it for everything else.

O' Meaty One: the minimag is switched by turning the head. But good tip for the C/D mags, as I've also though this to be a weak spot.
