The o-rings were sized down, so that small -> extra small and large -> small.

I made the same mistake when I put my first McE2S together, putting the larger o-ring on the button. I pried it off using a small screwdriver, but I think I nicked it. I'll replace it if/when it breaks.

Now you lost me! I not sure what your refering to. No doubt, the large "O" ring which acts as a insulator which keeps the switch assembly from touching the battery tube is missing!

The ones I have are much smaller than the missing one. The larger of the two belongs on the rounded button which snaps into the jam nut. Comparing sizes to a couple of new 15 ohm kits that I have, it's the larger of the two that was included with them.

Sounds like you "might" have two smaller "O" rings too? Did you get two or three "O" rings? There are two grooves for "O" rings on the Mc2ES. It's starting to "maybe" sound like your missing the insulating "O" ring also!/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thinking.gif

If you used the smaller "O" ring on the button, it would compensate for smaller chamfer on the jam nut because it's stretched more. As long as it still retains the switch in the tailcap, it should work.

EDIT: I just installed one of the smaller "O" rings on the button and it still snaps into the newer formed jam nuts.

I'm very frustrated at my inability to communicate clearly. I believe that I received a McE2S with exactly the same parts as you, and that I was able to assemble it correctly. I feel the need to lay this out logically.

1) You have the correct number of o-rings.
1a) You have 2 o-rings.
1b) There are 2 installation points, button and battery tube insulator.
2) The o-rings correspond to particular installation points.
2a) The o-rings are different sizes, 1 small and 1 extra-small.
2b) The battery tube insulator has a larger circumference than the button.
3) The o-rings packaged are smaller than they used to be, quoted earlier from McGizmo.

*) The small o-ring is the battery tube insulator, and the extra-small is the button.
**) If the o-rings are too small to fit when attempted, then the conclusion should be that incorrect parts were included.

Summary:
extra small used to be small -> button
small used to be large -> battery tube insulator

Depends what you call large? I replace "O" rings in my line of work at times that may have a 6" I.D., one comes to mind. Another one is about 20".

The "O" ring which is used as the insulator from the battery tube is/was missing from my three 60 ohm kits. In it's place was another "O" rings with about a 1/4' I.D. very close to the one that belongs on the button.

I believe Don now recommends that both O-rings be the same size. They are both the small orings approx 1/4" in diameter.

Is that what you have? You really have to stretch it to go over the isolator side. That's what we are using and are shipping.

If we ship you new orings, both of them will be small.

Okay, now I understand! This thread could have been answered with just one post stating that the size of earlier insulator "O" rings has been greatly reduced. Must be fun stretching that little bugger on there? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

If you haven't shipped the "O" rings yet, don't! If you have, I'll return them!
