I want one. :grin2: I don't like the way my Wee NS tarnishes, but I don't want to get a Wee TI because it would chew up the stainless steel pocket watch it would be sitting next to. Now that we know Rob can work with stainless, there's no excuse.

Consider it a product request.

Can you explain this statement, and how a SS Wee would be any different? Isn't SS harder than Ti?

My experience has been that SS against SS will polish, not scratch. I have a stainless Sebertool M4 in that same pocket and it has gotten along with the pocket watch just fine for...hmm, when did I graduate high school?...since spring of 2000, when I got the watch.

Carbon steel has higher abrasion resistance than titanium does, but stainless doesn't, if I remember correctly. The chromium added to the alloy to improve corrosion resistance weakens the crystalline structure of the steel, which is why people don't just use stainless for absolutely everything. That being said, not all titanium is the same either, with alloys containing varying amounts of aluminum and vanadium, so I suppose it's possible to make a titanium alloy that won't hurt stainless steel. Based on statements Rob has made in the past about how hard his titanium lights are to make and how quickly they wear out the CNC lathe bits, I'm going to guess he specs just about the hardest titanium he can get.

Also, a Wee SS wouldn't be a PITA to lube the threads on. Titanium is pretty much the worst metal to try to lubricate.

Just a general question, which is stronger? I know weight-for-weight it is titanium, but in terms of a constant-volume of material, which would have more crush resistance, a Wee Ti or SS?

It depends on the titanium alloy, but generally speaking titanium falls between stainless steel and carbon steel in terms of strength. However, seeing as the Wee SS isn't intended for use as a portable speed-bump, it's not really an issue.

A SS Wee VBC with any LED would make it to my keychain for sure. :twothumbs

If I didn't know any better, I'd almost think somebody was purposely trying to bump a lot of threads to move another thread out of the limelight.

Wee SS arrived today! I have to say, my first thoughts are that I prefer it to my Wee Ti (but due to the options I chose rather than the material itself)

The green trits are visibly green even in dull daylight, and appear much brighter than blue trits I had previously. The real gem is the Cree neutral-white Q3 emitter. I was always jealous of my girlfriend's Wee NS tint. It was not a neutral-white option, it was a regular Q5 just with a very nice tint, a tint that the luck-of-the-draw didn't reproduce in my Raw and Wee Ti. By specifying the neutral white option, I have got the almost incandescent tint I desired. It is much closer to my Surefire E1e with Lumensfactory drop in than it is to a regular Q5 emitter. Compared to a Fenix L0D-CE Q4, the Lummi makes the Fenix look weak and anaemic by comparison. The lack of lumen output relative to a Q5 emitter is not noticeable to me.

After withdrawal from the loss of the Wee Ti, I'm sure you are one happy bloke (did I use that term correctly?). I've found that green trits are usually the brightest of the bunch. Contemplating an additional Wee SS now....

I am a very happy bloke, the green trits are awesome. I have noticed that the new cells are a touch on the short side, but I have plenty of the older ones that are still performing fine.

Mike, can you tell me (or measure) the differences in length of the new cells and the old cells? Mine are right at 18mm.

Tnx,
JB
