'every night carry'...
For trips outside, like watering the dog, checking the gates, and general lighting while doing evening chores, what do you usually use?
Let's assume that we are talking about one light for general purpose usage, ignoring the fact that different lights are best for specific tasks.
My overall choice for brief nighttime chores wavers between my SF L1 and SF L5. The L1 is super for limited navigation purposes when taking the dog out to pee and on the low beam it doesn't disturb night vision. The high beam is also good for checking out noises in the shrubbery from modest distances.
I prefer the L5 when doing something more task-oriented where I need good general illumination, like checking under the car hood or in the truck toolbox. I like the 'wall of light' it provides, with plenty of spread.
The small pocket supernova lights seem too bright for closeup usage at night, and their battery life is limited due to their brightness. Sometimes brightness is not always best, and general broad illumination is preferable.
So what do you use or prefer, given the constraints above? I'm not talking tactical use, which is a different matter altogether.
