I can't keep up with all the modified flashlights on the market these days, and appreciate any feedback from others regarding their favorite mods, and why. I'm looking for currently-available products (that I might be able to buy), but would enjoy reading about "older" mods as well.

And please put your comments in simple terms. Even if I've been around CPF for awhile, I'm totally confused by all the luxeon bin codes and other nomenclature. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Thanks for any replies!

The labdna Promagnun 2 D cell maglight mod, Lux-111
this light is very bright, clean and white,
it is also regulated and focusable right down
to a fine spot. I have had other mag mods in the past but
this one is the best by far. I beleive that there is a thread dedicated to this light under CPF custom BST.

A McLux PRT that fits an e2e body, and one of Chop's KL3 mods to fit an M2/C2 body. Both are bright and white.

How's that for simple? /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif

I've gotta go with the m@g mods. They're dirt cheap to do and what you get is just out of this world. Of the m@g mods, I like the 2D conversion to 3C DD'ing a 3W and the minimini m@g with a MM sandwich in it. Just about everyone of my friends that has seen it has had me make them one.

Thanks for the replies. I'll have to check into these mods. Very interesting that three out of the four responses favor modified Gags.

I'm hardly unbiased on this topic, but FWIW, at the moment, my favorite mod is my very own Tiger11, which is the stock TigerLight with a high-current KAN 1800 battery pack and a Carley RF1940 reflector modded to fit, with a WA1111 ring-potted lamp installed and focused down to the tightest beam. I have an Orange Peel reflector in my Tiger11 at the moment, but I've really grown to like the smooth reflectors just a little bit over the orange peels. Anyway, the Tiger11 puts out about 520 lumens (torch-lumens, not bulb-lumens: the bulb is making 800+ lumens, but about 500 something comes out the front). The FBOP version which I have is a very nice and manageable 8" in length and has a rear placed switch, which I much prefer. It runs for 29 minutes on a charge and is re-chargeable. HA finish, gold plated contacts inside, no conduction through threads, no heat issues. It's a real keeper. Plus, it isn't as touchy as the Tiger85, although that bad-boy is smokin' bright.

So there it is, but I'm a dyed in the wool incan guy.

The "gateway drug uh I mean mod" gag 2c/3x123/kpr112. If you've never hot rodded and incandecent then this will get you your first high.

2. Police 11's purchased from Waion
