what exactly does "short-circuiting" a battery mean?

my Uniross Hybrio LSD AA accidentally slipped out of my hand into my bathroom sink with some water for a few seconds.. i cleaned it thoroughly with some toilet paper..

am i already "short-circuiting" the battery??

to short curcuit a battery, is to connect the 2 poles together with a wire or something of very low resistance.
water has a very high resistance to the flow of electrical stuff, so it doesnt do a "short curcuit" by definition.

just make sure you dry it out completly, including water that will hold for longer in the vent areas, just so you dont transfer the moisture to a device, and cause minor issues in the device.

short, meaning very short Path, which assumes a very well connected path.

Yes, do dry it very thoroughly. The battery is sealed on the inside, but the metal parts on the outside can rust if left in a damp environment.

Even though water has a high resistance to the electrical stuff don't mistake that for permission to play with electrical stuff in the tub. Plugged in stuff and water are not good for your health. Hair dryers, plugged in radios. :eek:
