I have a madmax wo in a e-can. The positive out goes directly to the led and the negitive goes from the board to the e-can to the led. Is this right? Or, do I have to have a ground and a negitive wire. The problem is the output looks like it is direct drive off its single 123 (therefore very dim). Any suggestions?
thanks,
Jason

It sounds like the GND wire soldered to the converter board has come undone and the power is flowing only through the positive input of the converter board and then through the LED back to GND.

This would produce a dim light. Try ohming out the GND on the converter board with the can and see if there is continuity (shorted). If not you will need to restore the GND wire to the ECan.

This can be done on the backside to the wall adjacent to the ECan with a small wire and careful soldering. Be careful if you do this since heating the ECan up will discolor Arctic ALumina Epoxy and also make the epoxy brittle.

You can also apply via a battery holder and some wires power to the ECan and then shorting the GND hole on the converter board to the ECan and see if this gets the converter running.
