LED and LCD are entirely different technologies.

A Light Emitting Diode is a semiconductor the emits light when current is passed through it.

A Liquid Crystal Display does not emit light, but actually blocks it. An array of crystals blocks selected wavelengths of light to allow you to only see the colours it chooses to let pass.

Many people confuses LCD and LED TVs.

LED TVs uses LCD panels too except their backlighting is LED.

Well yes. If every single pixel is made out of red green nand blue leds like the big screen out on the streets.

From the question, I was thinking that he/she was confused about old LCD TVs and newer ones that has LED backlighting.

OLED is a new technology which I don't know much about, wikipedia has a lot of info about those.
