I'm new to all this and have read through a few reviews, and I'm leaning towards a wolf-eyes 9dx raider, or similar. I would like to spend no more than $75, and would ideally like something rechargeable, but I doubt that'll happen. You guys have a ton more experience and knowledge with flashlights than me, what would you recommend? Besides the price restraint, I would most like to emphasize durability, and sheer amount of light output (I work in security)

How often do you use the light during your shift? Are you night security?
Does your budget include batteries or could you spend a little more on rechargeable batteries and charger?

most of our jobs are at night, "shady" apartment complexes, factories, etc. I would consider upgrading to rechargeable batteries in the future, if I can't find a decent rechargeable setup to begin with. So far I've looked at the 9dx Raider, and the Eagle 4-ax. I have a 3d maglite but don't really enjoy lugging that thing around. A friend suggested the surefire g2 but compared to the wolf-eyes I have been looking at, it doesn't measure up for the price.

I'm not that concerned with runtimes. most of the lights I've looked at are between 40m and 1hr. Batteries: Like I said above, I would prefer recharcheable, or at least the option to upgrade to rechargeable. Throw or flood: I would have to choose more throw over flood. I'm not sure what multimode means. I would pretty much like the most output I can afford, and be able to fit on a belt. i.e. as close to the size of a mini-mag as possible, nowhere near a d-cell mag light. I don't need one that big, that's what I have an asp for.

Fenix T1?

58.JPG

Fenix T1 --- Fenix L2D-CE --- Fenix P2D R100

225lumens for ~1.5 hours
60 lumens for ~10 hours
(for primary 123A)

Drop the runtimes by 1/2 for rechargeable RCR123 batteries.

Out of all the beamshots I've seen (I have the T1, just not many of its competitors), the T1 seems to have the most usable beam for indoor work, since it has a combination of very good throw (50m easily), with VERY bright spillbeam.

It's not a Surefire, but it's probably equally as indestructible... and you're not going to be breaking down doors in Fallujah with it.

Multimode would mean the light has more then one output levels and/or strobe, SOS, beacon, and a few others. Some lights only have high and low while others let you program them to do exactly what you want them to do and many in between. Some are easy to use and others are very difficult to use.

Ok, so you want good output and durability.

Do you already have a rechrageable RCR123 set up?

If you are willing to spend more money, the Dereelignht CL1H 2SD would be great for your needs two stage and really bright in high, 260+ at the emitter. The problem is that it will only run on a 3,7v battery. There is a 2SM module that will take up to 8.4v but it won't be as bright as the 2SD module.

If you don't want to spend more money and want a simple light, the Fenix T1 should be good. The L2T V2.0 might also work, 2AA but won't throw as far as the T1. There is a 8% off coupon at Fenix Store, "CPF8".

Do you already have a light with a P60 type module?
