what would be best bulb for...

I'm thinking about doing a 3X 18650 with a SF turbo head as a thrower. I would like get a bulb that doesn't need a soft start switch. what are the brightest bulbs that can run well off of 3 18650's don't really need alot of run time. 20-30 would be plenty. I would like the bulb to last a while though, so no 4 hour life bulbs please. any idea's? will a 1901 run well off of x 18650 or does it need more current?

Are you using IMR cell or straight 18650 LiCO cells? I would recommend the Lumens Factory HO-M6R or the IMR-M6 cells for your purpose. They are designed to handle the higher voltages of rechargeable cells and won't on you as easily.

I'm using a WA1185 - I do use a AW 3 level soft start - but that's just because I like the multiple levels. Body is off for coating right now - otherwise I'd try it without the soft start because I think it's not a problem.

THere are some threads around - I was looking for what I had bookmarked but could not find anything. Do a search on WA1185 in incandescent

Great setup with a SoftStart (I run the same) but w/o I think you will poof a lot of 1185s. I've poofed 1185s on fresh 18650s going to quickly from Low to Hi on the SoftStart.

I don't have the patience to sit around and charge batteries to 4.1 volts every time either. The SoftStart is the perfect solution for me - load up the batteries for 5 seconds on Low to bring the voltage down and then ramp up to Hi.

was planning on running 3X aw 18650. not sure which flavor. protected ones. I haven't really shopped around. I was looking to build a 2X 18650 with a leef body and a SF turbo head. but since you can't get 2X 18650 leef's I was wondering what bulb for a 3X 18650.

Agreed! i was planning on doing this same build with a LEEF and a HO-M6R with 3x18650's, output is about the same as MN21 and if im not mistaken around 45-50 min runtime. someone correct that if im wrong, but i think thats close to right

Either the HO-M6R or the IMR-M6.
