I just disassembled a stage light that was retrofit with this 240W LED panel. Want to build possibly a ridiculous cannon of a flashlight or something with it. its 9" across and the LEDs are only about 1/4" apart. so micro reflectors might be tough.

I would love to make a searchlight of a beamer... but not sure how easy it would be to focus this, if even possible.

Worth playing with? What would you do with this module?

Throw it in a aircraft searchlight with beam smoothing and a giant fresnel lens?

actually kinda what it came out of. A stage light with a fresnel.... But that was a big heavy light. Want to try making something a BIT mor portable.

And the old light is becoming a display piece so it didn't need its guts anymore

could work. Seems 9" round heat sinks are easy enough to acquire. just a matter of what kinda optics to put in front of it.
are those clamps on the old housing for mounting light filters? Also, I just thought of something that might be cool for aesthetics and not necessarily function...an indirect lighting wall mounted "floating" moon with a motorized blocker that reveals the moon phase
 
Or more functionally, I noticed it was damp rated, so a workshop/garage fan light replacement! I imagine that it would probably be far brighter than a standard consumer grade light in that regard.
yeah, could indeed just relegate it to a work area light for sure

Yeah Barn doors and gels can be attached. its primarily or was a stage light. now it has a Phillips Hue bulb in it.

3D resin print a piece with little parabolic reflectors for every LED. To make it reflect, spray it with Spaz Stix Ultimate Mirror Chrome Clear to make the surface smooth, then Ultimate Mirror Chrome, followed by more of their clear.

OOof... so I actually do have a whole resin 3d printing rig and hydro chrome 1st order silver mirror printing setup... In theory I could do all those things. The hard part is the 3d modeling of the piece. I have spent some time in blender, but i'm a basic shapes kinda guy soo far... parabolic reflectors i'd have to think about how to model
 
Consider that a test of your energy and skills, as JFK said. ;)

What 3D modeling software do you use? Google how to model a parabola in <name of 3D software here>

Once you have a parabolic curve you can lathe, sweep, revolve, whatever it into a 3D shape.
 
I would use Blender. 288 LEDs is AI counted correctly (I was NOT going to count them quite yet) looks like they are about 8.5mm centers though oddly there is a bit of fluctuation by a half mm or so through the different rings.

So any reflectors I could fit on them would be tiny
 
A compromise. Instead of individual reflectors make them ring shaped troughs for each ring of LEDs.
