Whats next from Dorcy?

Can anyone here speculate on what they feel will be next from Dorcy as far as LED and Luxeon lights are concerned?
I have recently seen the whats new section of their site and see that they have some new 1 watters coming out.This follows the wild success of their AAA and AA series of LEDs.
For myself I feel that Dorcy makes a decent light for the price however the main thing for me with this brand is availability.
I am usually very impatient with ordering from on line and love the fact that Dorcy products can be had at most local stores.Does anyone feel that this company may offer a 3 watt or even 5 watt Lux in the future?...I also like the fact that these lights are usually pretty mod friendly and that little AAA board has been the test mule for many of my experiments.At 6 dollars you really cant go wrong here....just curious if anyone had any ideas as to this company and what they may produce in months to come.

I would think it probably will be awhile before they make any 3watt the dorcy lights in stores seem to be hanging under the 30.00 mark so far as I have seen. Hopefully I am wrong but I figure dorcy is trying to appeal to the general flashlight public and flashaholics both at the same time which is a profitable marketing idea.

It does seem to me that Dorcy is somehow listening to the needs of the general public.Their AAA LED can hardly be found at times and they vanish quickly when the stock is re-newed.I have found all of their LED and Lux lights that I have bought were very good for the cost paid.It seems that each time a maker comes out with something that Dorcy is right there with something similiar and cheaper.I may be dreaming but it sure would be cool if I could simply take a trip to WalMart and buy a good 3 or 5 watt Lux with a decent bin Luxeon and reflector.I am really suprised that they have not came out with a 1 watt single 123 Luxeon as of yet.There are many companies that offer a good product for a good price however not many that you can get at your local Dept.Store...at least as far as lights are concerned.

I think when the price between the 1 and 3 watt luxeons gets negligible we will start to see most lights offering 3watt models. Perhaps nichia will get their act together and get a 1 or 2 watt out there and competition will push prices and production to where they are more common. I don't see dorcy going to the 123 cell anytime soon. They seem to want to appeal to the common man who goes.. huh? what does that battery look like?

The 2AA 1 watt LED looks like it could be the next hit.
They sure don't tell you much about the 5led version probably takes 3 AAA cells.

just picked up a dorcy "super" 1 watt this weekend At OSH ( also the 5 led too,(uses 4 AAs)- hoping one of my everleds will fit in the middle of that interesting looking one) did not see the 2 AA or for sure i would have !)

the little chart on the pos (point of sale) packaging says 30 lumens

plastic IMS type/style reflector: 0.83 inch diameter, 0.8 deep approx.

body diameter: 1.2 inch, length size is like an arc 2AA LS,

theres no place to attach a clip, cord or chain,

brittlest Al I’ve handled lately

haven't taken too far apart so don't know the PCBA is like

ok projection for 19 bucks , runtime sucks…well its 3 AAAs, output drops after 25 minutes,nice AAA holder though...

does have a flashing 2 cps option when you press the on/off sw ( twice)

I'd like to see a comparison between the Dorcy 2AA Lux and the Streamlight Jr. Luxeon. I don't know if the Dorcy has an optic or a reflector, but guessing, I'll bet it's a reflector.

I also would like to see that comparison of the Dorcy VS Streamlight Jr.That was kind of my point to this thread.It seemed like right after the Jr came out here comes Dorcy with a 2-AA model.I feel they hit a home run with their AAA and the single AA and 2-AA 4 LED versions also.I always wondered why Wal Mart did not carry the other models.Seems like they were a little cheaper than Target and Dorcy may have sold many more from WalMart.It does seem like they have just updated their site however the information is very vague.From the looks of the 2-AA model it appears to have a really deep reflector.The runtime seem the same as the 3-AAA model and I have that model.It has good output and with a better reflector it would be much improved.I really hope that Dorcy begins using the High Dome emitters soon.Seems like all of the ones I have seen from them so far are low dome.Is their some reason for this?Is the cost the same for LD VS HD if the bin is equal?

I read somewhere that Lumileds is using the same phosphor deposition method on the LD's as used with the HD's, so the quality is a lot better (fewer greenies). The differences between the Dorcy and the SL would then be centered on the optics vs reflector and the type of boost/regulation being used in each light. Just guessing, I think the SL will be brighter overall, but the Dorcy may have more throw. Knowing that the SL is probably overdriven a bit, its LED lifetime may be affected, but who cares in 7 years or so?

Main thing I think Dorcy really need to think about. Get a decent distributor set up in the UK. To this date, I've never found any of their lights over here.
